these days (and a lot of it is negative, at the local level) and 2) not
as many posters coming to Vegas during the downtime.
that said I'm not sure how posts about demise help -- or idiots whose
only contributions are "OFF TOPIC" help --- but it is what it is.
If you want *real* demise read the RJ every day --- and see how much
"fun" this town has become. Hell, the RJ itself is a shadow of its
former self so its not hard to see how the avlv wouldn't also be less
than it was "in the good old days".

Er, the Sun has always had a liberal lean, the RJ conservative. I
wouldn't call either of them "moderate".
I noticed that some sections of the paper were a physically different
size than others and sort of wondered. Today's notice clarified it. The
Sun has also begun using smaller paper and has adjusted it's content
accordingly.

Part of the issue isn't just the initial posts, but the threads which
ensue from them. I've backed off from lots of things I might have posted
about because it seems like no one's interested, or only want to make
pejorative comments. So I didn't post that I'd met Mr. & Mrs Bklyn Bob a
couple of weeks ago. I also didn't post about the AARP convention last
month, even though it and it's 25,000 attendees were expected to bring
$38M here.

there was a time where it served a great purpose. Seriously, it did
well before the CTFF folks took over and thought it to be the playland
for insults, taunts and the like.
I read a very cogent post on Vegas being slow. That would not cause
the interest on vegas info to go down. If anything it would cause
info related posts and questions to go up as peple would be asking for
info in the newsgroup as opposed to going there themself.

polotics. thewy care about their Vegas vacation and not a lot more.
This group has slowed down because of its own self imposed suicide at
the hands of those that argue without end on everything about the
street address of a builsing to insulting each others ...stomachs.
The vegas tourist does not care about those things, they care about
their vacation.
Is the city slower right now. it is the same as it was in the 70's
and a few other times. I've lived and worked in Vegas in them since
the late 70's. All business is in cycles. We are in the lower end of
one now. Big deal as the sun comes up tomorrow AM. This is the
best time to buy realestate in Vegas. want to move to Vegas?? Jump
in now while people are trying to get rid of their home. There is a
lot of things going on that never make it to this site as people are
so damned busy playing "Chicken Little" running around screaming "the
sky is falling". The sky is not falling and Vegas is fine. One of
the images you believe in is caused by the hotels wanting to create an
image of poverty so they will do better in theoir next contract
negotiations. So they run at 95% instead of 103% <3% no show rate
average>. They make 100 milion instead of 125 million...watch me
cry!
This group needs help. I think that is a great fact we all agree on.
Walt and others do it a great favor with their posts on Vegas related
subjects...sincerly. Bit the listing of porno links, the other crap
that comes from a non moderated group is to be expected. My Vegas
forum group is very slow to non existant as well right now. I catch
the porn pushers and the like and stop them by some of the things I
can do as the mod and owner. No one wants the crap here in the spam
and porn and argument area.

I love BK and pass quite a few in Memphis everyday. In Vegas I would
go to the one on Rancho often. I stop in once a week now here in
Memphis or in Vegas.

It is not bad as long as the level of the noise is not larger than the
stated purpose of the groups purpose. People come here for Vegas
related info. They do not come here for anything else. If you go to
a Burger King do you really give a cow pie about the fancies of the
person behind the counter, their views, yesterdays insults, or the

Who am I? I am a Long Term Vegas local. Been in Vegas since 1977.
Met and talked with most of the old timers, alleged Mafia figures.
Sat in Church by most of them. They made their Confessions at home
when the Priests came by for Dinner. Raised kids, worked, payed
bills, etc... in Vegas. Worked in Organised Labor in Vegas and loved
it. Now I am retired, living six months in Americans second most
beautiful city, Memphis, TN and six months in Vegas.
I will continue to create place where normal non fuked in the head
argumentative people that want info or want to discuss ther Vegas
related views on Vegas can go and participate. With moderation it is
not hard to allow the members to create a safe and warm place to
gather together and enjoy Vegas...together. A group takes years to

They always made fabulous biscuits but I have had one in years. Karcher I
believe also owns Hometown Buffet and Green Burrito, another place I have
not got to in years. Living in Vegas, you kind of get spoiled on buffets.
I know Krystal is sill in the south, which to me was the exact of a White

I am a FABULOUS CHEF....but tonight was Minnie's classic Meat cups. Simply
ground beef and mild seasoning, baked in a biscuit and topped with cheese.
Served with nibblets corn and a small salad.
We eat rather simple but good around here.

Well, the first "doctor" was paid by my insurance company. private
insurance is the only way to go. Only a $10 co-pay, which is promply
written off of my taxes when I file. This doctor BTW was the head of the
spine clinic at a hospital; board certified and so many diplomas and
certificates, they used them as wallpaper in his office at a local
hospital.
The second doctor, also board certified, worked for the social security
admin and is paid by tax dollars, so keep working DD. These guys make big
buckaroos.
All in all, it only cost me $10 to get SSDI and begin collecting more
money than you ever thought possible. :)
If I had known things would be so good, I would have "retired" 20 years
ago.

about federal taxes. The co-pays; mileage; medical coverage expenses;
dental expenses and any other out of pocket medical expenses are a
write-off once they exceed 7.5% (or maybe 7%) of your AGI (annual gross
income for morons like you).
That is why I write off medical; RE taxes; etc on form 1040A and then
deduct what exceeds my SD, which is married and around $10K. Now if I am
wrong, someone can correct me but the IRS accepts my return every year
without question.
So, look a little harder when you want to criticize.

Ok kurt..the vast majority of my income, which is SSDI is tax exempt. So,
my wifes income makes up the majority of our AGI. Remember, without giving
out privledged info, lets say that 7.5% of $40000 is $3000 AND my wife and
I pay $3100 a year in medical and dental insurance premiums. Therefore
Einstein, automatically, my $10 co-pay is written off, since the excess of
7.5%; RE taxes; mortgage interest; etc exceeds our SD of $10000 a year.
I've been doing my own federal and state taxes for the past 45 years
(without being audited one time) , so don't try to 2nd guess me.

My tax bracket is low tom old boy because, as I said, most of my income is
tax exempt. How about yours?
If my income was taxable, my wife and I wouldn't come anywhere near 7.5%
for medical deductions.

You almost got that right DD. Except I don't watch tv during the daytime.
Only for a bit in the evening before bed. I spend my days working on
remodeling the house, so it can be sold when the housing market gets back
to normal.
I work on the house...wifie continues working 42 hours a week...and my SS
benefits plus 2 pension checks roll in each month to keep me in lumber,
paint and wallpaper.
Things couldn't be better.
