Art Museum in Vegas?

It's in a new library branch out on West Sahara. Also, look for
better stuff when Bellagio opens in October!
There's a pamphlet (avaialble at Southern Nevada Visitor Centers)
called M.A.I. N. that lists all museums and "cultural" stuff in Vegas.

Inside the remodeled hotel lobby of the Desert Inn (which is separated
from the casino) you can view the murals covering the walls above the
registration desk. I was quite impressed by this artistry when I visited
the D.I. last December.

There is the Donna Beam Art Gallery at UNLV. There are some commercial
art galleries in both the Fashion Show Mall and the Forum Shops.

David, as Glenn mentioned, there is a very nice museum way up on West Sahara. It
is the new Las Vegas Art Museum, and it IS located in the lovely West Sahara
branch library.
We visited the museum last December. It is relatively small as would-be
ambitious museums go, but that just makes it easier to get around in. There is a
small but growing permanent collection, highlighted by some wonderful works
oriented toward the Southwest cultures, both Indian and Caucasian.
The museum's most significant exhibition to date is now under way, running
through May 24. It is dedicated to Holocaust-related art, and the reviews have
been glowing. We plan to take in this exhibit before it closes.
In addition, a rapidly buregeoning arts community is taking shape in the city,
centered along parts of East Charleston not far from the Strip. They do a lot of
collective stuff, and we're hoping to get by to check out some of the galleries
and special exhibits there.

Inside the new resort will be the Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art. The
gallery will contain a collection of masterpieces including major works
of art by Claude Monet, Edourd Manet, Renoir, Edgar Degas, Paul Cezanne,
Vincent Van Gogh, Paul Gauguin, Henri Matisse, Picasso and also
sculptures by Brancusi and Giacometti.

Well you just missed the Bob Guccione Photographic Retrospective (I AM
NOT KIDDING) at the LV Art Museum. It left late April.

I am still ticked that we only had 3 hours at the Hermitage last year(g).
