I will be in Las Vegas from late June through early August and I would
like to continue taking Spanish classes while I'm there. I'm not
having much luck with Google, unless the UNLV and CCSN really are the
only places offering classes (and their semester schedule doesn't
really fit the dates I'll be in town very well). Any
suggestions/recommendations? If there are no language schools, where
would the best place be for me to look or advertise for a private
tutor? A native speaker from Costa Rica would be ideal. Thanks!

I thought the group might find the Babelfish translation of Don's most
excellent Spanish interesting:

Speech with the others!!!!. Speaking it is education free for you! Education
is important, clear. But... speaking it is but important! Espanol is a very
good language! Speech man, speaks! Congratulations by its goals also! With
goals and acion, the world is yours!

Definetely keep your eyes on Craigslist -- you can post for a teacher
in classes or culture groups.

I'm in Denver - and I found some small groups that meet in coffee shops
and around town to speak and practice. It's not classes, but keeps
you practicing and good for socializing

Now what Ace? You have the potential of a real life situation here. Are
you so sure of your diagnosis of harmlessness that you would put it to
the test with this innocent. Perhaps Max, a "private email" of a
certain Steve Two-Names missive might send the proper message or if you

It might not be best to establish Steve Harder-Hyphen as a credible
character reference, Norm. She just might wind up meeting the
intelligent and articulate Sr. Strebel.

Complete and total fantasies don't count as real life situations, not
even potentially.
All he's doing here is overcompensating, as usual. Not that there's
anything wrong with that. Now if you please, I'm no longer interested
in discussing subject matter regarding the individual. I would suggest
you follow suit. The newbies who will now be targeted due to the
regulars unwillingness to bite, will have to fend for themselves.

Exactly, and just like his English he throws in an inappropriate multi
syllable word now and then to try and impress. In both languages he
could say what he has to say with about half the words and be twice as
clear. Instead we get Strevelese and El Strevelese.

Only on your newsreader, newbie. Quoting a thread has been usenet
etiquette, or netiquette if you will, since the beginning of usenet. It
makes it easier for you to be understood. If you desire to change that
policy you will have to see someone in the home office.

Wow I didnt know I was the only one that had a newsreader that showed

this policy written? It must be written somewhere since you suggest I

Etiquette would require you to keep to the original subject of this

Every newsreader has a different order of posts. Because your
newsreader shows your post under another post it will not appear that
way for other people.

No, you are a clueless newbie. Something we all were at one point or
another. What you don't want to be is a clueless newbie five years
later. We have enough permanent clueless newbies around here.

When you realize how stupid that sentence is you will be embarrassed.
When you know enough to be embarrassed that is a good thing. We have
enough people around here who don't know enough to be embarrassed.

Of course it is written. It is all over usenet. The home office thing

Thank you, it was meant that way although it is sometimes better to be

Yes, it is. But unlike not quoting, at least people know I am being off
topic. When you do not quote, people do not have a clue as to what you
are saying, or who you are saying it to. See it benefits you as much as
the rest of us. So if you want to be off topic at least we know who
what and why.

If you want to be understood and participate on a news group you will
quote. If you do not, people will write you off and not pay attention
to your posts. Your call. As to get a life, if you want to hang around
here you better learn to flame better than that.

You probably saw some Big Mikey posts. He is one of those clueless

really cares who he is posting to and what he is posting about anyway.
Trust me, you don't want to be thought in terms of Big Mikey. Newbie
isn't necessarily pejorative. As I said we were all newbies at some
point. People like Big Mikey are incapable of moving past that
designation so they get a stupidity pass and they continue to wonder
why no one responds to the content of their post and the only response

Also, you are a step up on many because you don't top-post.

Damn and I thought we had made some progress. On my newsreader this
post follows Andrews post and therefore makes no sense at all to
someone wandering by. Obviously, you cannot comprehend that your posts
will not be comprehended without quoting. Do what you want to newbie

You obviously haven't used Usenet very long yourself. If you had you
would know to look under my profile and it would show you I have been
posting for about the same period of time as Norm has been. Almost 4
years. So if im a newbie he is too. And I have been in newsgroups for
6 years before that. So what if 1 time I dont put the quote I am
replying to in my post. Whats the big deal, it wasnt even his topic, so
why does he want to try to insult me calling me a newbie. Lot of other
people now and then do the same thing. No one cares.

Norm, BOB is starting to refer to himself in the third person. Is it
time to start worrying yet? The last Bob I recall who did so almost
ended up running the United States. Scary stuff.

I have posted on this board for almost 10 years. Id rather not post
like an old pro, because Id rather come here and post info, ask
questions, or learn info. I dont care for all this BS that permeates
this board, none of these people mean squat to me. Just because a
couple people who seem to act like experts for this board dont remember
me ever posting, they want to call me a newbie. Maybe they caught me in
a bad mood today, but id rather not get drawn into this bs. If you look
under my profile and see what I actually post, most of it is good info,
sometimes I post something to make a joke about something, but not
insult anyone. Have a nice day!

You know, between your numerous announcements about not caring what we
think and then responding to my article a couple of minutes after I
posted it (figuratively speaking), I kinda get the idea that this is
more significant to you than you're letting on.
I'm kind of worried about your misanthropic statement of "none of these
people mean squat to me". You don't seem like a very happy person. You
seem to have a lot of pent up anger and hostility. Some of us here like
to have fun with each other. I don't have to look up you profile, I
know you've been around here quite a while. We're just pulling your
leg. You having been here as long as you have should understand how
this sort of routine works. Lighten up a little. Nobody likes a grumpy
guss. Well okay, they are fun to tease.

Hey I could bs with the best of them if I wanted to. I just don't
consider this board entertainment. An occasional diversion of interest
maybe. I suppose a lot of people come on here to flame to relieve their
anger and pent up hostility. Ha... No, sometimes I just dont care for
the bs thats all. I just happened to have free time today and thats why
I was posting replies so fast. I do know how this sort of routine
works, and dont really care for it. Well I will let all ya'll get back

I can read Latin and understand it (80%), but this can give me a headache
trying to get all the words right, understand what I am saying and knowing
no one outside the room will talk with me in it so as to get it down better!
But I LUUUUV Latin! :) Can you believe we used to do all this, vocally,
when I was a boy.

My Latin sounds like two drunk seals screaming at each other on an ice flo.

P: Credo in unum Deum, Patrem omnipotentem, factorem coeli et terrae,
visibilium omnium, et invisibilium. Et in unum Dominum Jesum Christum,
Filium Dei unigenitum. Et ex Patre natum ante omnia saecula. Deum de Deo,
lumen de lumine, Deum verum de Deo vero. Genitum, not factum,
consubstantialem Patri: per quem omnia facta sunt. Qui propter nos homines,
et propter nostram salutem descendit de coelis. ET INCARNATUS EST DE SPIRITU
SANCTO EX MARIA VIRGINE: ET HOMO FACTUS EST. Crucifixus etiam pro nobis, sub
Pontio Pilato passus, et sepultus est. Et resurrexit tertia die, secundum
Scripturas.
Ecclesiam. Confiteor unum baptisma in remissionem peccatorum. Et exspecto
resurrectionem mortuorum. + Et vitam ventura saeculi. Amen. P: I believe in
one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things
visible and invisible. And in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the Only-begotten Son
of God, born of the Father before all ages; God of God, Light of Light, true
God of true God; begotten, not made; of one substance with the Father, by
whom all things were made. Who for us men, and for our salvation, came down
from heaven. (here all present kneel) AND WAS INCARNATE BY THE HOLY GHOST OF
THE VIRGIN MARY, AND WAS MADE MAN. (here all arise) He was also crucified
for us, suffered under Pontius Pilate, and was buried. And on the third day
He rose again according to the Scriptures, and ascended into heaven. He
sitteth at the right hand of the Father: and He shall come again with glory,
to judge the living and the dead: and His kingdom shall have no end. And in
the Holy Ghost, the Lord and Giver of life, Who proceedeth from the Father
and the Son, Who, together with the Father and the Son, is adored and
glorified: who spoke through the prophets. And one, holy, Catholic, and
Apostolic Church. I confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. And I
await the resurrection of the dead and the life + of the world to come.
Amen.
P: Dominus vobiscum. P: May the Lord be with thee.
S: Et cum spiritu tuo.
