Just ran across this old list of conlangs I posted back in 1992.
This was back in the days before the world wide web existed; most
of the langs we knew about were auxlang proposals that had been
published in book form and were held in various libraries. Nowadays
a much higher percentage of such a list would be artlangs of a
highly personal nature, published only on the web...

This is an attempt to list most of the constructed languages which are
mentioned or described in accessible literature. This list gives the
author's name, the name of the language, its year of initial publication,
and a numeral or abbreviation indicating the type of language. (This
version is in chronological order.)
You can sort this list any way you like -- by year, by name of language
or whatever -- using the SORT command from your operating system or a
word processor.
types (based upon Monnerot-Dumaine's classifications):
1 a priori (having an invented, rather than borrowed, vocabulary)
1.1 a priori, classificational (``philosphical languages'' e.g. Ro)
1.2 a priori, non-classificational (e.g. Suma)
2 semi-a priori
3 mixed type; drastically altered morphemes from ethnic languages
and autonomous grammar (e.g. Volapu"k, Vorlin, Loglan)

With the help of Excel I've tallied the number of new language projects per
decade since 1800. This provides a rough barometer of interest in IALs - even
though the majority of these were basically one-man crank projects.
To summarise, the rate of language production was steady at about 4-5 a
decade until the advent of Volupuk, when it shot up to the high 20s. After
Esperanto's breakthrough in the early 1900s, the number climbed into the 50s
for three decades. It fell drastically in the 1930s (18), rebounded in the
1940s, 1950s and 1960s (30+ per decade) and tailed off (12 in the 1970s, 8 in
the 1980s).
By this measure, the expansion of the Internet in the early 1990s coincided
with the weakest IAL movement in over 100 years. Obviously it has breathed
new life into IALs, by facilitating contact among enthusiasts and by
providing a publishing platform for projects that would not otherwise see the
light of day (no longer do you have to mortgage your house to get out your
message). Theoretically, it may also have created new opportunities for IAL,
by creating a worldwide community encompassing many language groups. Whether
this hope shows signs of being realised is an interesting topic.
