newshosting.com and
newsgroupdirect.com; I dropped
newshosting.com) and I let Agent download the list of newsgroups (although it should have had them already) and tested the connection...and Agent said all is good, but I still get that error about the group not being in the access plan, and any group I try to retrieve headers from I get that error.

There are *three* different places where you must check the news
access plan and make any updates needed.
Make sure you have checked all *three* places #1, #2 and #3 below.
1) Folder >> Default Properties >> News Access Plan
This is the *default* news access plan for all groups. It may
not be the news access plan used by a group showing the error.
The default news access plan may have been overridden in
#2 or #3 below.
2) Folder >> Property Schemes >> (select scheme) >> (Edit) >> News Access Plan
You may have 5 schemes in Agent 8. Check both of the schemes
"Binary newsgroups" and "Text newsgroups". Also check any
other schemes which are associated with any of your groups.
3) (Select folder) >> Folder >> Properties >> News Access Plan
Check this for each of the newsgroup folders which gives the
error, no servers in the access plan carry that group.
To save time do this after you have done #1 and #2 above, for
any newsgroup folders which still give the error.
Even if you have never set a news access plan here, still do
check #3. Agent will have set a news access plan here if you
have ever subscribed to a group while the newsgroup directory
had a check-mark in "Display a separate line for each server"
When you are doing #3, check all of 3.1, 3.2 and 3.3 below:
3.1: Check that there is a check-mark to the left of the
news server name.
3.2: Check that there is an asterisk to the right of the
same news server name. This means the server does have
the selected group.
3.3: Check that there server name does not have "(Disabled)"
after it. This means the server is not disabled in the
"Tools >> Servers and Accounts" settings.
