What dictates it is the Windows XP dialog font size. The Windows XP
dialog font happens to have the same default setting as several other
Windows XP font settings.

In XP you could adjust either the dialog font size itself, or your DPI
resolution. This will affect all programs, not only Agent.

Later versions of Windows do not offer the option to adjust the dialog
font size; only the DPI resolution.

Other messages will not be zoomed. But when you return to the
same message, Agent will remember and zoom it again. Most times
when people want to zoom the text in a message, it is because the
message has tiny text.

I saved and have used this for several versions of Agent. I
realize that the steps differ for Agent 1.93, but maybe Ralph
will get you started. These steps allow one to create several
font step-ups for when you get tiny type. I have 4 levels of
enlargement. (It takes me 5 clicks in Agent 8.0 to enlarge the
font in a message. I wish it were as easy as in Windows, where
are one does is ^+ to step up the font size in a browser window.)

It sounds like you had something other than "Message Box" selected
in the "Item" drop-down, when you adjusted the font size.

Here is how to change the size of the Newsgroup, Subject, etc., font
in Agent 1.93's compose window.

You will need a 'resource editor' to edit the agent.exe file and change
the font size in there. I use "Resource Hacker" for this.
Resource Hacker: <http://www.angusj.com/resourcehacker/>.

These instructions do _not_ work with Agent 2.0 and later.

For users running Windows Vista/7/8/8.1/10, you may need to copy agent.exe
to an editable location, modify it there, and copy the modified agent.exe
back.

Instructions

1. Make sure Agent 1.93 is not running.
2. Run Resource Hacker.
3. From inside Resource Hacker, use "File >> Open" to open
Agent 1.93's agent.exe file.
4. In the left pane of Resource Hacker, expand "Dialog".
5. Select Dialog number 20624.
6. In the right pane for dialog # 20624, near the top, is a line
like this:
FONT 8, "MS Sans Serif"
Edit that line and change the number 8 to (say) 12.

7. Next, use Resource Hacker's menu command "Action >> Compile Script".
screen-shot: <https://i.imgur.com/sSdTYTT.png>

8. Repeat steps 5, 6, and 7 for dialog number 20629.

9. After both 20624 and 20629 have been modified and compiled, use
Resource Hacker's menu command "File >> Save" to update agent.exe.

If you get a save error, check these things
* Check that agent.exe is not running;
* Check that the agent.exe file is not set to read-only;
* In Windows Vista/7/8/8.1/10, you may need to copy agent.exe
to an editable location, modify it there, and copy the modified
agent.exe back.
