Could someone who knows German please translate these two lines for me? There
are from page 53 of Joeseph Campbell's "The Inner Reaches of Outer Space".
They are:
"Alles Vergangliche ist nur ein Gleichnis" -- Goethe
"Alles Unvergangliche ist nur ein Gleichnis" -- Nietzsche
Thanks in advance...

Hello Patrick, let me make a trial:
Goethe: Everything transitory is only a simile.
Nietzsche: Everything perishable is only a simile.
Maybe this is not a "good" translation (don't have a dictionary) but may
help you to understand the meaning.

Can i give a more poetic, although not literal translation?
That way we won't think we're talking about vegetables!
Everything mortal is but an illusion -- Goethe
Everything immortal is but an illusion -- Nietzsche
