Ausgleich or Gleichgewicht?

Ausgleich or Gleichgewicht?

Hello, everyone.

If I want to say that it's important to find a balance between work and
play, would I use "Ausgleich" or "Gleichgewicht" or neither or either?

Basically, I agree with that, but I associate
"Gleichgewicht" with quantitative equality, i. e. "das
Gleichgewicht von Arbeit und Erholung" sounds to me like "6
hrs. of work, 6 hrs. of play". I'm not sure whether
"balance" (in figurative use) also has this connotation.

no. I won't say that "Gleichgewicht" means "Gleichheit". So a good
Gleichgewicht could be 6 hours of hard work and 8 hours of play, or 8
hours of "paid hobby" and 6 hours of play. IMHO Gleichgewicht is the
exact translation of balance.

Use "Gleichgewicht".
