using a harmless abbreviation; now you call me a "Holocaust denier,"
which is, of course, a synonym for *N A Z I*. You, of all people, the

Oh, yeah, about those "facts 'n' figures." Scientific facts are not
important to you, nor are figures. You just parrot what others have
parroted for 52 years a million times -- whether the facts & figures are
correct or not -- and that's good enough for a superficial bitch like
you. Not for me. Before I became a philologist and medievalist, I was
an analytical chemist, and my scientific mind rebels against
non-empirical "facts" such as the allegedly 6 million Jews who perished
under the Nazis.
Instead of weaseling out ("What I beseech the Real People on a.u.e. NOT
to do is become involved in *any* facts 'n' figures dispute") and
sighing like a hurt 19th-century _grande dame_ about this nasty little
prick, show us some facts and figures and documentation to support your
six million figure, or else shut up. Accusing me of being a "Holocaust
denier" is not a scientific proof but a cheap shot, a typical tactic
used by cornered bullshitters.

Thank you for introducing me to this usage of "batten." I only knew the
other one, the one usually followed by "down the hatches." I had to look
this usage up; and sure enough, it was there.
