The OED only has 'pumpy' as part of 'rumpy-pumpy' and 'rumpo'.

I was looking for it because of a reference in old episode of
'Midsomer Murders'. It might be entirely spurious and even a joke
because the character who makes 'pumpy' is rather keen on rumpy-pumpy
as well.

I thought I'd ask here, just in case - I can't find anything useful on
google.

The idea, in 'Midsomer Murders' is that it's a name for a drink made
from distilled scrumpy and garlic - it sounds an interesting
combination.

So, is it just a coinage in the series, or is there a drink made from
distilled scrumpy and garlic, and, if there is, has anybody heard it
called 'pumpy'?

I have no idea, but I'm surprised I don't recall this from MM.

Is it [distilled [scrumpy and garlic]] or [[distilled scrumpy] and
[garlic]]?

There are drinks called Pompey. Blue Pompey and Pompey Royale, if that
is any help.

After a bit of rumpy pumpy with Google I found this:
http://godshillisleofwight.co.uk/isle-of-wight-cider/rumpy-pumpy-scrumpy-litre-p-37.html

Rumpy Pumpy Scrumpy 1 Litre

A medium dry cider, filtered & slightly carbonated. 6% vol

There is no mention of garlic there, however, that brewery is mentioned
here:

There is a recurring garlic festival on the Isle Of Wight, where
also
is located a brew pub called Rumpy Pumpy (Brit euphemism for that
which requires euphuizing.) Rumpy Pumpy make a scrumpy - strong
cider
or perry that in some formulations contains *meat* - and if I
understand the situation correctly, also gets involved in the garlic
festival.

Thank you - that sounds like a very likely source.

It is from Series 4 in an episode called 'Garden of Death'. They seem
now to have put nearly all of it onto iTunes.

Yes?

(Actually, I've never heard of it.)

I don't know the answer to this, it wasn't clear in the original. My
interpretation was that it was likely to be the first.
