This is certainly not a term that I've heard; but your friend is English
and I'm American, so maybe "cool struttin'" is strictly British.
To "strut" is to walk in a showy and proud manner, to flaunt oneself
while walking. "Cool" is used here in the youthful slang sense of
"acceptable to one's peers, fashionable"; I can only guess how "cool
struttin'" differs from ordinary strutting.
"Cool struttin'" is obvious slang, and not a term that I would use in a
formal context.

To me strutting means walking with one's hands about the level of one's lower
ribs, elbows sticking out, in imitation of an officious rooster.

"Cool Struttin'" is the title of a piece by the American jazz musician
Sonny Clark. Literally, to "strut" means to walk in a proud, showy
manner.
>and when are u use the word?
When referring to Clark's work.

It is called "The Harlem Shuffle" or "rooster struttin"-
Mick Jagger is good at that. See his concerts. You consider that
walking?
