I often see mid six-figure income, or mid six-figure salaly and the
like.

Six-figure alone could be understood, but why mid attached to it in
front?
What's the meaning of "mid" here?

I would take it as partway between a six- and seven-figure amount.

Six-figure minimum is 100,000.

Six-figure maximum is 999,000.

Mid six-figure would be somewhere around 450,000. The actual range
would be open to interpretation. Some might consider it to be plus or
minus 50,000, others might consider it to be plus or minus 200,000.

It simply means that the salary is near the middle of the range of salaries
that can be expressed in six figures. So if that range is from 100000 to
999999 of whatever currency unit is being refered to, it means, roughly
speaking, a salary whose first digit is closer to 5 than it is to 1 or to
9.

In the middle of the range. A six-figure income could be anywhere from
$100,000 to $999,999 -- quite a large range. A mid six-figure income would
be taken, by most Americans at least, to be somewhere near the middle of
that range, or between about $400,000 and $700,000. There are corresponding
"low six-figures" ($100,000 to just under $400,000) and "high six-figures"
($700,000 to just under $1,000,000). You'll also see it used to refer to
the approximate price of a house.
