Sorry. Bun Mui felt entitled to post any sort of query -- on any
topic -- to the group, and she did, and she usually got at least one
useful response. She was fixated on rock music and some other aspects
of current popular culture. A typical query might be whether a given
rock group had originated in City A or City B. To make such things
on-topic, she was careful always to include the phrase "in English
usage." So you might see something like "Has Bob Dylan ever covered
the song Dancing in the Dark in English usage." It was quite the
catch-phrase around here for a long time.
Best guess from available evidence is that Bun Mui was a teenager of
Chinese ethnic extraction who had spent her youth in Hong Kong and
later moved to Canada (possibly Winnepeg IIRC.) I think we also
established that "Bun Mui" meant "little sister" in at least one
Chinese dialect. I confess to being exasperated by her in her early
days and venting some of that exasperation in postings to this group,
many of which embarrass me in retrospect. It's unclear whether she
was an intentional troll, but she had a troll-like effect on some of
us -- and I was one of the biggest suckers. After a while we took to
treating her as if she was joking with us, and although she remained
mostly straight-faced, she became neutralized.
I have no recollection that anyone from the group ever met her (sorry,
Rhi -- whoever you are), nor do I have any reason to believe that what
purports to be a picture of the Bun actually is.

Some days I'd think Piddy was a he and on others I'd swear she was a
