True BT does own the backbone of most UK ISPs, on the BTNET network....
And that they liscence IP ranges to providers such as freeserve, however if
someone was causing offence, it would have nothing to do with BT, it would
be freeserves problem, only they have the records of which user was using
which IP address at the given time that it was allocated and used. Even
BTinternet has nothing to do with BT the telecommunications provider, infact
BTinternet was setup as a seperate company, who are infact based in Scotland
and are liscenced by BT.
Secondly contacting BT would most probably result in getting nowhere, BT are
the cuss. Also if u tried to send anything to someone at BT, they would
give you no help but tell you to send it to the right department, ie abuse.
Their network is shite, and their tech people are useless.....
Maybe one day we will see an end to their monopoly *sigh*.

BT are nothing to do with it. If someone calls you a tart down the phone
would you go and sue BT? No you wouldn't, in fact it would be a matter for
the person involved. BT are simply the carriers of the message, now although
in that case that involved Demon a while back they were actually sued, it is
now the case that individuals are being sued, ala the Buckley case, a
certain Chris Buckley is currently being sued by the person he slandered,
not by BT.

I mean if you insulted someone on the street, the police would just ask you
to leave.....
Yet on the internet if someone is insulted, people want to take up a whole
court case about it..........its just a ludicrous waste of time and money if
