Israelis Capture Man With Radiological Backpack Bomb

ISRAEL - Israeli security last month arrested a man linked to suspected
terrorist coordinator, Osama bin Laden, armed with a radiological
backpack bomb.

The man was arrested in the last week of September as he attempted to
enter Israel from the Palestinian Territories at a border crossing point
at Ramallah, according to U.S. government officials.

"There was only one individual involved. He was from Pakistan," a
government official said.

An official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, declined to give the
exact date of arrest. Two other sources interviewed by United Press
International confirmed the incident, but also declined to give further
details.

"People know how to walk a dog back," one said, meaning that relating
too exact an account could lead to the identification of the source of
the information.

Another source said U.S. officials believed that the suspect had
probably reached the territories by way of Lebanon.

Information on the arrest went immediately to President Bush and a close
circle of advisers, another U.S. official said. He described the
appearance and character of the top-secret report circulated among the
Cabinet members and signed by each official present.

Former Pentagon terrorism expert Peter Probst described a radiological
bomb as a device with a small explosive core that is encased in
radioactive material. "It would not kill a great many people, but it
would contaminate a considerable area with radiation," he said.

A U.S. government expert said that the weapon captured by Israel was a
backpack device that CIA officials learned about through Russian
intelligence agents in place in 1995. He emphasized it was not a
so-called nuclear suitcase bomb.

Backpack bombs were designed for Russian Spetznaz special forces and
have such an intricate and complex system of activation that the ability
of a terrorist to detonate one would be incredibly limited, according to
one U.S. government official.

"There is such a complicated sequence you have to perform that some
terrorist isn't going to be able to get it to work. You have to be very
highly trained," an intelligence official agreed, describing the chances
that the device could have been activated as "practically minuscule."

Probst is nevertheless convinced that radiological bombs are still a
danger for New York City. "Bin Laden is fascinated by Wall Street. My
fear is that he will attempt to smuggle in some "dirty" bomb that
wouldn't kill many people but would dangerously contaminate the area,"
he said.

- ALIENS COMING TO GET YOU DEPARTMENT -

The Very Strange Case Of The Gundiah Mackay Abduction

It was, as they say, "a dark and stormy night" in Gundiah, Australia.
Amy Rylance had fallen asleep on the couch in the lounge room while
watching TV. Her husband Keith and a business partner, Petra Heller,
both slept in bedrooms just off the lounge room. Those are the
undisputed facts. From there, things get fuzzier depending on whom
you're talking to. What follows is the collective account of the three
participants in what seems to be a case of alien abduction.

Petra was woken up at about 11:15 by a very bright steam of light coming
through the door of her bedroom, which was left ajar when she retired
earlier. Going to investigate she saw a scene so disturbing and shocking
that she says she fainted from the effect of it all. But before she
passed out, she managed to process a surreal sightóthat of Amy (prone
and in a sleeping position) being carried by this solid, rectangular
beam of light through the air towards the source of the light, a disc
shaped UFO hovering just above the ground a short distance away. Also
caught up in the beam were all the contents of the top of the coffee
table in front of the couch on which Amy had been sleeping.

Overwhelmed and overcome, Petra slumped to the floor in a faint. When
she came to her senses she called out for help and was extremely
agitated. Keith reports that when he stumbled out of his room to see
what was wrong that she was practically incoherent. It took several
minutes to get the gist of what had happened from the very upset Petra,
but once he understood they both rushed outside to see if they could
find any trace of Amy. But she was nowhere to be found, anywhere.

Eventually they decided to call the police and placed a call to the
authorities. Officers from the Tiaro police arrived and tried to remain
objective and open-minded while they were told the incredulous events of
the evening and tried to rule out foul play.

They were able to confirm that Amy Rylance was indeed, nowhere to be
found on the property. Her husband and Petra Heller were indeed very
upset and agitated. The torn screen was examined closely. A bush outside
the window showed indications of being affected on one side, as if by
heat or some other mechanism, while another bush on the other side of
the window was seemingly unaffected. Samples were taken for analysis and
comparison.

Just when it seemed the night could not get any stranger, the phone
rang. It was a woman calling to advise them that Amy had been taken to
Mackay Hospital, where she was being examined by a doctor and treated
for dehydration. Amy gave a statement to the police stating that she had
no recollection of ever leaving the couch, but that she awoke to find
herself prone on a bench in a strange, rectangular room. Illumination
came from the walls and the ceiling and she had the impression she had
been there for some time. A male figure in a full body suit appeared who
tried to calm her and assured her that they were going to be returning
her to a place not far from where they had taken her from, since "the
lights [were] wrong there and it was not safe to return her to that
location".

She then fell back to sleep and awoke on the ground, surrounded by
trees. She was very disoriented and isn't sure how long she fumbled her
way through the area before coming out onto a road and finding herself
near a gas station. She stumbled into the station and was offered some
water and accepted a ride to the hospital from there. She was found to
have a strange, triangular arrangement of marks on her inner right
thigh, marks on each heel and her hair, which she had colored earlier in
the week was growing out as if it had been in place much longer than
just a few days. Body hair growth would also seem to indicate that a
greater period of time had passed than would seem appropriate.

Keith contacted the Australian UFO Research Network office and Diane
Harrison and Bill Chalker are currently investigating the strange
occurrences of that night. The results of their research into the events
of that dark and stormy night are still pending.

Roswell Int. UFO Museum Co-Founder Dies

Max Littell, prominent Roswell citizen, real estate broker and
businessman, died Tuesday (10/16).

Littell, 85, was one of the co-founders of the International UFO Museum
and Research Center.

He was instrumental in the growth of the museum and the driving force in
the location of the center in The remodeled Plains Theater in downtown
Roswell, stated a news media release.

Sandy James, who worked the past four years with Littell at the
International UFO Museum, said Glenn Dennis and Walter Haut contacted
Littell while searching for an appropriate downtown location when they
were first establishing the museum.

That was when Littell became a part of the 10-year history of the
UFOMRC. He was actively involved with the business end of it.

When the museum outgrew its first location on Main Street, Littell was
instrumental in the museum’s move to the Plains Theater, a few blocks
south of Its original location on Main Street.

Haut and Dennis, co-founders of the museum with Littell, expressed
sorrow at news of his death.

"All three of us go back more than 50 years together," said Dennis.

The board of directors, volunteers, staff and advisors joined them in
saying he will be missed.

"The museum and the UFO community have lost a major advocate," said
Dennis.

James, who worked with him, said Littell was "a wonderful friend."

Littell was born in Superior, Neb., and he moved to Roswell with his
family when he was 12 years old. Littell’s wife, Jean Newell Littell,
died October 1988. They had two children, Dr. Larry Littell of
Watertown, N.Y., and Lana Boswell and her husband, Danny, of Roswell.
Also living in Roswell is a nephew, Bruce Rhodes.

UFOs Over Suriname

PARAMARIBO, Suriname - Dozens of people in the South American country of
Suriname have reported seeing an unidentified flying object near its
capital, police and military officials said.

Police, military and air traffic control officials said they received
reports of a brightly lit white object that appeared to fly back and
forth, sometimes at great speed, during a two-hour period Wednesday
morning.

Local media also broadcast reports of the alleged sightings on the
southern outskirts of the capital, and most television stations
broadcast images of the object.

Surinamese Air Force Officer Tony Comvalius said there were no planes in
the area at the time and he confirmed with the weather service that it
was not a weather balloon. He said he also saw the object.

"I don't know what it was but was definitely not a flying object I
know," Comvalius said.

Not everyone was convinced that the sighting was mysterious.

"I do not believe in UFOs. I think this sighting had something to do
with some kind of scientific experiment, nothing more," said Sran
Herewood, a 60-year-old civil servant.

Chile Homeowner Terrified By Chupacabras

A key phrase kept ringing in the mind of Ana Reyes Tapia, the Viñas el
Mar resident who lost 22 hens and 7 chickens under strange
circumstances: "One of the policemen said: "It came back again."

It was the latter which caused her a great sense of trepidation.
Although she claimed to be rather skeptical about the mythic
Chupacabras, she stated that at this time she is not dismissing the
possibility, given the circumstances surrounding the deaths of most of
her livestock.

"I have 3 dogs who remain close to the henhouse at all time. But that
day, none of them barked, which was curious. On the other hand, last
night (two nights ago) they barked quite a bit, as if giving warning
about something. Apparently there wasn't anything going on," stated the
woman.

In her opinion, a dog could not be responsible for slaying her hens and
chickens. "It couldn't have been a dog. First, because if it had
attacked them, it would have killed 3 or 4 at the most. But in this
case, there were 29 dead between hens and chickens. And I don't know of
any other animals on the prowl in this sector".

She insisted that another situation which has been a source of surprise
to her involves the orifices made in the henhouse's fence, through which
the attacker entered and later departed.

"It's also remarkable that a known animal would have been able to punch
a hole at a height of over one meter to come in and another one,
slightly lower, to get out."

She added that "I really don't know what to think, especially after one
of the police officers said: "It came back again." I don't know what he
meant by that. In any event, they took 7 hens and a chicken to have
experts analyze them. They also collected some hairs which were left on
the henhouse fence and other things where they found the dead hens."

The fact was also a source of concern among residents who have farm
animals. After learning of the events, they said that they would adopt
precautionary measures.

One of the persons stated that until this period was over, he would
sleep with the hens safely kept in his bedroom .

Others hope to reinforce the fences and gates to their henhouses.

Strange Fireball Seen in Sky Above Calgary

A booming fireball streaked through the sky yesterday leaving bewildered
Calgary-area residents rubbing their eyes in disbelief.

And although Calgarian Holly Goddard saw the spectacle around 2:20 p.m.
as she waited at an intersection at Barlow Tr. and McKnight Blvd., she
said she had a hard time believing it was just a meteor.

"I saw this smooth, brilliant silver, elliptical-shaped thing shoot out
from behind a cloud," she said, adding she also heard a piercing
whistle.

Although still unable to confirm if the object was a meteor, astronomer
Alan Dyer of the Calgary Science Centre said it could have a huge
scientific impact.

"If pieces can be recovered, it's very valuable scientifically."

While it is still unclear where pieces of the object eventually landed,
some reports indicated they may have fallen in the Northwest
Territories.

Argentine Priest Confirms EVP Is Real -'The Dead Can Speak'

Father Francois Brune claims that a tape serves as a medium for
capturing the voices of the dearly departed.

It is startling to hear the words of French clergyman Francois Brune,
who calmly states that he has thousands of accounts from deceased
persons in his possession who have communicated with their loved ones
through a variety of modern electronic devices. The 70 year-old priest,
holding degrees in Latin, Greek and Philosophy, and who speaks 15
languages, shall present his experiences in the conference "Life after
Life" to be held at the Diego Portales building.

Brune is one of the world's leading authorities on the subject of
"Trans-Instrumental Communication" as strange discipline which has been
increasing in importance since the 1950's and which has not been frowned
upon by the Vatican. It is only recently become known in Chile.

- Is there life after death?

- Resurrection and death are one and the same. When the butterfly
emerges from the worm, it means death to the worm and life for the
butterfly. We have the within our flesh bodies another one which St.
Paul calls the spiritual body. This body goes on living, as we can tell
from Near-Death Experiences. It is the same with the deceased. We have
testimonies through automatic writing and now through modern electronic
devices. The dead speak and can be taped.

- How does one record the voice of a dead person?

- Easily. All you need is a simple tape recorder, a new tape and a
microphone that can capture the greatest amount of background noise. It
is always advisable to pray before starting, asking God's help and
permission. We immediately ask a question that is recorded on the tape.
We allow a 30 second silence to obtain the reply. A second, third or
fourth question can then be asked, leaving 30 second gaps of silence. We
then rewind the tape to hear it all. We can hear our own questions and
if we are lucky, we can also expect replies.

- Is the response clearly audible?

- The most common thing is to hear whispers that are hard to understand.
But there are exceptional cases in which words can be clearly made out,
as though they came through a telephone.

- How many such accounts have you collected?

- Thousands, in many countries. There are research centers,
publications, magazines, books...

- Must there be absolute silence when the recording is made?

- It is possible to obtain voices from beyond without background noise,
but it is easier to change waves that already exist than to create them
out of nothing. Therefore, slight background noise is often employed,
such as the sound made by a piece of paper or the sound of water."

- Is the idea to transform the sound wave made by water into voices?

- Exactly. On one occasion, we tried to receive something without
effect, when a young man drove past the house on his motorcycle. Then,
in the wake of the motorcycle's noise, we heard the voices.

- What do the voices say?

- Familiar voices, those of friends say that they are doing well, that
they are in the light, we will meet again in the Afterlife, the love
continues...phrases like those. The family acknowledges names and
surnames and memories of life spent together. This changes the absence
entirely. There are also some very odd messages that are studied in some
centers, but are generally of no interest, with some exceptions.

- Please give us a strange case.

- The voice of a child who died in Belgium at 16 months of age. Twelve
years later, his parents found my book and placed a tape recorder with a
tape inside before going to bed. On the following day, the child's voice
was clearly made out on the tape, lecturing his father to change his
lifestyle.

- According to these experiences, Hell exists?

- Yes. We have some voices howling, screaming, crying, asking for help.
We can aid them through prayer and forgiveness.

- What are your conclusions?

- To me there is no doubt about survival immediately after death.
Therefore, the day I die shall be the loveliest of my life

Interactive Ghost Hunt Planned For TV

A TV company is planning what it claims is the UK's first live
interactive paranormal investigation.

The Sci-Fi Channel will plant a small team of investigators in a house
which is said to be haunted.

Viewers will be able to follow the investigation 24 hours a day on the
internet and use their PCs to help the team analyze the data recorded
there.

Highlights of themazehouse.tv will then be broadcast on cable and
digital television.

The investigation will take place over the course of a week later this
month and webcams will catch any ghostly action.

Instruments throughout the house will collect electro-magnetic field
data which can be downloaded and processed on an 'analysis screensaver'.

Cellphones Spook Ghosts, Expert Says

LONDON - cell phones are killing off ghosts, a British expert
who has spent years researching the occult said on Sunday.

Tony Cornell, of the Society for Psychical Research, told the Sunday
Express newspaper that reports of ghost sightings had started to decline
when cell phones were introduced 15 years ago.

"Ghost sightings have remained consistent for centuries. Until three
years ago we'd receive reports of two new ghosts every week," said
Cornell, of Cambridge in Eastern England.

"But with the introduction of mobile phones 15 years ago, ghost
sightings began to decline to the point where now we are receiving
none."

According to the paper, haunted tourist attractions in Britain could be
under threat if the number of cellphones continues to grow from the
present figure of 39 million

Apparently paranormal events, which some scientists put down to unusual
electrical activity, could be drowned out by the electronic noise
produced by phone calls and text messages.
