Just got back from watching the Art of War 3 tournament. Its basically
a Muay Thai and sometimes modified Muay Thai fights. But they did have
an exhibition match between Frankie Shamrock and the CRAZY BOB! I have
never seen Crazy B fight before so that was a good intro.

Bob fights with a lot of submission grappling but is also able to deal
with some close striking. He started a few arm locks and even a rear
naked choke but was never able to complete them on Frank. It was a 3min
single round fight so it was fast and furious through the whole time.
Towards the end it seemed like Frank went for the cross arm lock but it
didn't look like it sunk in for a submission. Judges ruled in favor of
Frank who seemed to have an edge over the Crazy guy.

Some of the Muay Thai fights were good. The welterweight Thai fighter
from Fairtex Gym kicked the Russian champion's lead leg so much that he
couldn't fight any more. Later the same guy filled in for another
fighter who didn't show up. He also stopped another Russian guy by knee
kicking him so hard in the abdomen that he couldn't continue. Oh yeah.
I forgot to mention that the Thai guy is the world welterweight
champion.

Cheyanne Padaken, who has fought in a few Superbrawl tournaments, and he
knocked out his opponent from the Fairtex Gym. Although Padaken didn't
seem like a strong kicker, he is a very good puncher and he aims his
hits like a sniper. The Fairtex guy was alright but you need to take
out Padaken before he can send you to sleepland. The match was a no-knee
and no-elbow fight so I only wonder how Padaken would fare in a regular
Muay Thai battle.

There was a chick fight. Not too bad. One fighter from Fairtex and the
other was Bambie who is from Maurice Smith's gym. Bambie was ahead
slightly for most of the match and eventually won.

Sorry for the lack of more stats. This tournament was not marketed
well. There was no "card" to see who was fighting who. You didn't know
what specific weights the fighters were. After the exhibition bout a
lot of folks were starting to leave and they didn't even know that there
was a heavyweight bout. Whoever set up the tournament information is
not doing his/her job.

The last fight was the heavyweight guys. The Russian guy took forever
to come out because he didn't have his gloves on. He did show up but
only after they brought in the Fairtex fighter who was introduced next.
The Russian guy starts off with a typical rear leg roundhouse which
gives off a nice snap against the Fairtex fighters lead leg. When he
puts his foot back down....he falls down like a Tank Abbot victim.
Apparently the Russian guy broke his ankle. It was over in one kick.
Very anticlimatic.

The lightweight fight and the amateur fight was alright but nothing much
to say about it.

it was purely an exibition match, they were not going at it for real,
just trying to get as much done in the time, hence only 3 mins
-------------------------------------------------------------

So assuming that they got paid for doing it, it was a worked "pro
wrestling" match.

you call it what you like bud, anyone with a brain would call it what it
was officially called, a pankration exibition.

LOL! And anyone who ACTUALLY KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT
and is familiar with Japanese "strong" style promotions like UWFi,
Kingdom, and, UFO, would call it "pro wrestling" since that's what
those promotions are considered to be and since what they did and do is
exactly what Bob Cook and Frank Shamrock did, pankration style
EXHIBITIONS.

Can you blame Crazy Bob for only doing a 3 minute Exhibition? He has
a fight within the next week or so!

I seen Bambie get knocked out cold at a "Strike Force" here in San Jose. She
was fighting this short buffed chick who delivered a wicked spinning back fist.
I felt bad, it ain't as fun to see a chick knocked out, you know?
