Tonight, at the sold out Mandalay Bay Events Center, Griffin took all
the ‘buts’ out of the equation, overturning the odds and pounding out
a thrilling unanimous five round decision win over Jackson to win the
205-pound world championship and etch his name in the history books.
“This is the greatest night of my life,” said Griffin, the first
winner of The Ultimate Fighter reality show and now the second TUF
winner to earn a world title, following former welterweight boss Matt
Serra. “I want to thank Quinton Jackson. It was close and I think
we’re gonna have to do it again.”
“He whupped my ass,” said a gracious Jackson. “Sometimes you win,
sometimes you lose. He deserves it.”
Scores were 48-46 twice and 49-46 for Griffin who engaged in the
frontrunner for 2008 Fight of The Year with Jackson.
And this one will be tough to top.

Sounds like a GREAT one to me. Am I missing something. ;-)
Just watched it on Youtube. Jackson clearly won round 1
(Floored Griffin with an uppercut), and I give him 4 also.
Griffin won round 2 by laying on top of Jackson for the entire
round, with just enough elbow flurry to avoid being stood up.
Griffin gets an edge for aggression in rounds 3 and 5 also,
for consistently throwing leg kicks. A disappointing fight
for me. I don't think Griffin's going to be able to
successfully defend the title for long, and predict ASS will
own that division soon, if he stays in it.

sorry for my english
good fight especially for griffin
but I don't understand why rampage didn't powerbombed griffin as

Page's leg was gone after round 2 and he had no base to punch from.
Griffin's leg kicks were the most important factor in the fight. They won
it for him.

Ah cool it's already on youtube? I will definitely be watching it.
It's funny how people watch a fight and there are different takes on
it. I'll see if what you said is right IMO. Now remember- you are the
one who said what you said about the matchup to begin with so you
'may' be watching it with a different type of glass as myself. ;-) Is
he still Gump to you? Did he at least earn your respect last night
because is sounds like you didn't have much of it before the fight.
Kind of the way I felt about BJ- I didn't like- still don't like him-
if someone licked my face I would spend every waking hour for payback.
But I now respect him as a fighter. Just because I think he sucks
doesn't make it so...lol.
Ah- see- you are giving yourself away. ;-) My guess is- if you met
Forrest and could actually talk to him about anything other than
fighting you would like him. How could you not- it is a great story
IMO- I definitely would buy a book about his life. He is IMO kind of
the Balboa story of the UFC and if someone like me sees that- smarter
people than I have already thought about it. If you give me your
address I will mail you a Forrest shirt. ;-)
>Ah cool it's already on youtube? I will definitely be watching it.
You have to check quickly and frequently, because they get
pulled off fast.

See if you don't agree that Griffin fell down backwards, to
the canvass, after Quinton gave him a swift uppercut in round
1. They replayed it about five times. See if Quinton doesn't
also rock him in round four.
Now, when you're watching round 2, see if they don't allow
Gump to lay on Jackson for the entire round, while he does
little more than harass Jackson with forearm and elbows.
Next, see if rounds three and five don't basically consist of
Gump throwing leg kicks continuously. The only thing Gump had
on Jackson was the impression of aggression, as far as I'm
concerned.

Definitely. Either that, or he's the son of Tommy Lee Jones.
>Did he at least earn your respect last night
No, Jackson disappointed me.
>because is sounds like you didn't have much of it before the fight.
I've never disputed he's a good fighter, just that he's earned
all the favor they're showing him. I don't think he beat
Bonner, in the first fight, yet they awarded him the contract,
before he bled to death. I don't think he deserved the title
shot against Jackson. I don't believe he will hold the title
long.

When he successfully defends the title against top ranked
competition a few times, then I'll respect him. I think ASS
will own him, and everyone else in that division.
I saw but I didn't think the low kicks were the most important
thing, I saw griffin with high mobility
probably because I havent seen a lot griffin fights
> They won it for him.
ok
