Sadly, I think it's safe to say Martin has passed on.

"People get stuck a lot because they're afraid to act; in the worst case,...we get so attached to some end result that we can't function. We need help just to move on, only life doesn't wait."
-- Bernie Glassman, The Dude and the Zen Master

Thanks for the help!

Rest in peace, friend.

It looks like Martin decided to pass away in the beautiful Shasta Lake area of northern calfornia. RIP Martin. I thought Martin might have dried out in the sun in the black rock desert just east of there. Burning man would have been his style.

I plan to kick off in the high mountain country of Guatemala, currently in Antigua, and maybe next at Lago Atitlan among the Mayans. This area is 98% pure blood Mayan, the rest a spanish mix.

I am 74 now, the hand writing is on the wall, I might last another few years.

Rock bottom costs $200/mo total incl food, mid range costs $500/mo in the right hotel including food. Get off the chicken bus in Panajachel, walk ahead 30 yards, turn left on foot down a dead end cobble stone street.. to several $200/mo very nice hotels. Then in a few weeks take a boat across the lake to much smaller and entirely different villages around lake.

Spanish won't do you much good there, the people speak one of 28 mayan languages, Kachequel.

So this ends it. Martin always thought I was an asshole, now that I am among truely decent people in contrast, I see more than a bit of that in myself now. Its a deep pit to dig out of.
