Ok, the first thing I noticed that the story is credited to a Mat Beck?
I immediately thought, "WHAT? The special effects guy????"

Anyone know if it's a pseudonym for CC or someone, or really Mat Beck, the
special effects man for XF?

Maybe it was rewritten by... say... Morgan and Wong.... Blood deja vu....
just a much better version of it!

OTHER USELESS OBSERVATIONS:
Also noticed a tape of Jeopardy in that chest Scully was rummaging thru
while Mulder played with the Little Traveller on the exercise bike... will
this show never live that down? Before the ep, I knew it was about messages
thru TV and I was half expecting to see Scully watching Jeopardy going,
"Truman Capote.. what an easy final jeopardy question!!" Ah well.:)

If anyone knows about the Matt Beck thing, e mail me or post!

Is this a troll, or do you enjoy insulting people? Mat Beck has a
master's degree in psychology from Harvard, and did his thesis on visual
perception. I should think he is extremely well qualified to write an
episode about how subliminal images affect the brain. Why would you
assume a special effects man would not have what it takes to write a
script for a show he's been intimately involved with for years? Special
effects supervisors are not mouth-breathers, and I doubt that either
Carter or Beck would appreciate the suggestion that one has to
ghost-write for the other.

What was wrong with "Blood"? I thought it was a brilliant character study.

Totally agreed.

Not that I usually get involved in your little temper tantrums, Sarah,
but does it not occur to you that *you* are the one being insulted by a
perfectly innocuous question and subsequently flaming the poster for it?
I highly doubt that Mat Beck (who doesn't read this newsgroup) or Carter
himself (who doesn't read this newsgroup...live with it, people) would be
"insulted" at all. And FYI...it wasn't a troll, he's a regular poster.
*I* know that, and I don't even hang around here that much! (Pfft...any
wonder why....)

Flameboy, I was too harsh on you. I don't know if you *intended* to put
down Mat Beck's talents by implication. I should not have assumed that
was the case. I saw your post as being a slap at him, as though a
special effects supervisor could not possibly have what it takes to write
an episode of The X-Files. Possibly you did not intend this; it was not
clear. In any case, my tone was snappish and unwarranted. Please accept
my apologies for any offense I have given.
