Hi X-Philes

I have just seen the episode "Release" and I'm confused about who's
responsible for the death of agent Doggett's son! In this episode we learn
that Brad Follmer is corrupt but is he also responsible for the death of
Doggett's son? In the end of the episode Doggett talks to Regali in a bar
who tells Doggett what could have happened to his son. Regali talks about a
businessman but I can't figure out if he is talking about himself in third
person or if he is talking about Brad Follmer. Agent Doggett are about to
pull his gun at Regali but he hears a shoot instead and finds Regali shoot
in the head by Brad Follmer. Maybe I'm stupid but I can't figure out if
Follmer shoot Regali because Follmer figured out Regali was responsible for
the death of Doggett's son or he shoot him because he wanted to make him
quiet about the corruption he was involved in. If Brad Follmer was
responsible for the death of Luke then why did he ask Regali if he was
involved earlyer in the episode?

I have followed The X-Files since the beginning and I think this is one of
the best episodes I have seen, so it really bugs me that I can't figure out
who the real bad guy. Hope you can help me.

Thanks
Mads Nielsen

Regali = Businessman

Regali was telling the story in the third person as to not implicate him. He
said something like 'say there was a guy who liked little kids, like [insert
that other guys name] and say a businessman [himself, Regali] walked in and
the kid saw his face... well, thats a problem.. and it had a solution.'

That was Regali's way of relating what happened. He walked in on the
molester with Doggett's son and had to kill the boy so he wouldn't be
involved in any criminal pedophile charges of any sort. Regali was a mob
businessman, he wasn't a pedophile and didnt want his face to be pointed out
later if the kid escaped or was set free.

Follmer killed Regali because he was being blackmailed.

Thank for the answer.

You're right. Follmer was not involved in the death of Doggett's son. I
still like to know what happens to Follmer after this, but I guess that's up
to our imagination.

Thanks

With a witness standing right there... and her initial reaction as "he just
pulled out his gun and shot him."

I would imagine the BPR would dismiss him and file criminal charges against
him. If he could prove it was work related, it would be downgraded severely
from Murder 1 to Manslaughter / wrongful death or something like that.. he
might not even do jail time, just get probation but with no chance of going
back to the FBI.

I hear the Millenium Group has some openings, ;)

I think he's going to prison for taking bribes no matter how the
shooting plays out. He may have been disturbed that Regali
killed Luke but I think the shooting motive had a lot to do with
Brad Follmer wanting to get rid of a guy who was never going to
let go of him so I'm thinking it's not manslaughter, it's murder
and it was premeditated and he's going away for a long time.

He he he... :) Thank God I enjoyed S8-9. Otherwise, I'd look back in
disgust every time someone brings up TXF.
