Like she said, she was feeling 'druggy'.  Other than that, I dunno.

first I chalked it up to her being emotional and on the verge of tears.
But after watching tonights episode she talked like that the whole time.
It sounds like she has a cold or is talking baby talk.
It just doesn't sound like Scully. Does pregnancy change your voice?
Does anyone else notice this?

I noticed the same thing. It really sounds like she's got a cold or bad
allergies (guess it is that time of year?)

Hmm ... no, when she said she was feeling druggy, it was a different
voice, scratchy and cough-y. Through the rest of the episode it was a
lighter, more mommy-like voice.

I honestly don't know. She didn't sound like that in bed Saturday
night ...

Speaking only from my own personal experience (YMMV), in the final weeks of
pregnancy (I had three come to term), I started more swollen feet, hands,
and sinuses. I felt like I had a mild head cold, no - make that an
allergy-like sensation. No other cold symptoms, other than the expected
fatigue. Just a really stuffy nose which would occasionally run. Perhaps
Gillian had the same type of experience with her pregnancy with Piper and
she is using her experience to play the role.

Allergies? But she was pretty darn close to talking baby talk. Her
entire conversation(s) with Mulder were of the flirty, almost baby
talk. Don't go there, Scully! Noooooooo.

Well, flirty's okay, I guess.

Don't know, I suspect GA had a cold. She quit smoking. Does the vocal
cord damage creating a deeper voice repair itself? Also, GA said she
was playing Scully very different to reflect the changes she's
undergoing. Wish I could remember where she said this. It was almost
like, watch out she's going to be clumsy, uncertain and not too with it.
Very unScully like. Neato.

ITA. "Is that for me?" That was adorable. I don't care if people don't
like seeing that she has that kind of side oth er or think it's
inconsistent. I'm enjoying finally being able to see the "Dana" in
Scully. I think it makes her more three-dimensional than inconsistent.

The Scully that said "Is that for me?" is the same Scully that sat on the
couch, drunk, with "Mulder" in Small Potatoes. Very consistent. And three
dimensional.

My impression was that she sounded like Gillian Anderson, as opposed to Scully.

Gillian Anderson had a cold in the last 2 episodes. It is funny because
I tought the producers should have put a hint in the show like: Mulder:
you are feeling alright... Scully: just a bad cold and with the baby,
you know I cannot take medication (aside from the med given at the
hospital for the pain).

Hormones will screw with your voice when you are pregnant. When I was in
college I had to lay off private voice lessons for a semester. being
preggy will sometimes case women to have nasal problems which woudl
attribute to the voice change as wil lack of sleep due to heartburn
brought on by pregnancy.

of course I think she'e just a little *too* fond of Reyes and all that
second hand smoke is effecting her.

I think she is just older. I notice it when The Fall came out.

No. It's "ageist" (or is it "agist") and totally true and valid.

It's also damn annoying especially when she is whispering "loudly".

If she's got something wrong with her vocal chords, get 'em fixed.
If it's because of some "artistic" reason, then stop it. It doesn't work.

OK, now it's even annoying me.
