The Origins of Scully?

Hi everyone,

Forgive me if this topic has been covered before, but I'm not a newbie,
and I don't recall seeing it mentioned in the two years or so that I've
been lurking. Does anyone know where the name Dana Scully was taken from?
I recently read The Accidental Tourist by Anne Tyler, and there was
mention of a boy named Dana Scully. Any idea if Chris Carter picked it
from there? Thanks!

Well, I know Scully is from Vin Scully, a famous baseball announcer. I don't
know where the Dana is from.

Well, first there is Vin Scully, which is The Blessed One's "official"
namesake, but there is also the reporter in Roswell named Scully. The
Roswell!Scully was the reporter to "get the scoop" on the supposed
alien landing, so it is quite odd that CC's favorite baseball
announcer just happened to have the same name. What a small, small
world
