I have to wonder why she wears the same earrings over and over again. Is Agent Scully THAT poor?
What's wrong with a little variety?

I have lots of earrings but usually wear 1 or 2 favorites most of the time.
This does not seem unusual.

Maybe the earrings hold sentimental value to her, like her cross.

Scully is an FBI agent. The keyword in her attire and her accessories has to
be: "conservative" She could not chase aliens and bad guys wearing Ying Yang
earrings - the most conservative ones are small, and not dangling. It is
possible that she has different pairs, but they all resemble each other because
they're small and sometimes difficult to see.

I, too, have millions of pairs of earrings, but like KristinB, I tend to
usually wear the same two or three pairs.

Or maybe, like my sister, her ears are sensitive. When she finally found a
pair of earrings that doesn't cause her pain she wears them all the time.

Well, if she's like me, she either has lost all her other pairs or just
can't be bothered to change 'em :-)

You may have noticed her wearing the same suit again and again too. It
all boils down to the fact that ever since they consummated their
relationship after they returned home from Antarctica, she now spends
all her nights at Mulder's apartment, and never has time to run home for
a change of outfits let alone earrings.

The Committee has unanimously voted to put you on probation and
temporarily remove all of your points for that comment. To regain your
position you must never make an MSR-y comment again, replacing them
instead with Mulder/Krycek and Scully/Sean (or, if you prefer,
Scully/Astadourian). Otherwise, you will be deported.

Women in traditionally male-dominated professions very often find themselves
dressing very conservatively. Finding a look that works for you, especially
when you're a small size like Scully, that conveys both elegance and
professionality, is difficult. Scully's look works on her - simple and small
jewelry.

I have tons of earrings but usually wear the same pair daily. They're right for
every day and they stay in.

Dear Committee members:
I wish to point out that on my application for membership, which you all
approved, I checked the fence-sitter block. While this does preclude me
from voting in the primaries, it still allows me to toss out a random
shippy comment once per month, as long as I balance it with a resounding
noromo comment within one day of the original posting. So I submit the
following comment for your approval.

Skinner gave the earrings to Mulder on their last anniversary. It would
be highly unprofessional for Mulder to wear earrings on the job. But
Mulder's such a schmoopy person, and he wanted to show Skinner how much
he appreciated them so he asked Scully to wear them everyday instead.
Since Mulder and Scully are such good platonic friends, she agreed.

I wear the same necklace everyday because my husband gave it to me. Same
with any other jewelry,I never buy any for myself and all I where came from
my family. It has nothing to so with how much it costs, its just sentimental.
Maybe thats how Scully looks at it. Or maybe she couldn't care less about
wearing different jewelry each week. silkrat

I agree - I work in a physical field and can't wear certain jewelry or
the kids will pull it out during some tantrum. So.. I have my work
jewelry which I wear daily. I'll wear other stuff when I go out on
weekends, but typically I forget to change and end up just wearing the
same old stuff.

I don't think it means she is poor, I think she's just busy.

The Committee has reviewed your comments and decided to return all of
your "good points" to you and take you off probation for the current
time. We apologise for this oversight and hope that you continue to
stick to your one-per-month policy. Thank you.

Actually, I kind of like the fact that we see them (both of them) in
the same stuff from episode to episode. Many shows have over-enthusiastic
costumers who have HUGE closets full of tuff for every character, ignoring
the fact that in real life, most people (even most women) don't obsess over
cothes to the extent that they have to rent wareouse space to store it.
Scully has a few different suits she wears to work, and she wears any one of
them several times a year - maybe even several times a month. She has some
basic, day-to-day jewelry that works with her 'look' for work, and she
wears it day to day. Mulder has a few suits in his closet, and a few
ties. They're not fashion statements, they're work clothes.

What bothers me is that the prop department (I'm an ex prop master) doesn't
have the same control. Seems like these guys are ALAWYS changing guns and
cell phones! I know law enforcement officers who have carried the same
sidearm for entire careers, whether it's dept issue or personal property.
And of all the people I know who carry cell phones (I refuse to), everybody
keeps the same phone unless they're changing plans or companies. Until
recently, that meant your cell phone was a two-year commitment at least.

I think Scully's clothing really works well with her personality. Her very
conservative and professional looking work clothes portrays the rather
boring and conforming side of her. Even when woken up from sleep she has
modest to say the least pjs on. But she never ever has a hair out of place
or a dress crinkled, showing her attention to detail and desire to conform
and be looked upon in the right way.

Mulder on the other hand, tends to be a little scruffy. He likes blue shirts
instead of the normal white. No pretty Pajamas for Mulder either. He doesn't
care what anybody thinks of how he looks. Remember in the movie, the young
kid from Texas saying "You don't look like FBI, you look more like a door to
door saleman". Showing how different Mulder looked from the other FBI agents
he had seen. But you can see Mulder cares alot more about his work, so he
just doesn't care what he looks like.

When you get your diamond studs, never wear them to a riding stable. I wore
mine for two years and had no problem, until i changed my riding helmet, b/c it
was a diff style I guess I tugged at the studs and one came off. Some horse
ended up wearing an expensive diamond inside his hoove.

I wear the same little silver hoops all the time because a) I'm lazy and
b) they are the only pair I've found that I'm not allergic to. Maybe one
of those reasons will work for Scully too. --

I have tons of earings but I always wear the same ones everyday and never
bother to take them off ever. In fact, I've been wearing my earings for like 3
months now I think. hehe! Anyways, sometimes it's just a hassle (hastle?)
taking them off and I loose my earings all the time. Plus, I'm allergic to non
gold earings so I just keep my current earings on for the convenience.
