I wouldn't want it blatantly revealed, but
IMHO, this has been hinted at in eps like "Avatar",
"Terma" and, certainly "Zero Sum" with The Deal
made by Skinner with CSM. For me, Skinner's
unrequited love for Scully would be fun, but I think
the best way for it to occur (like there's any chance
of CC giving us something like THIS!) would be for
Skinner to unwillingly reveal this only to CSM, not
Mulder. (We could debate Mulder deduced as much
from his late-night gun-pointing visit to the AD in
"Zero Sum".) It would give CSM another layer of
control over the AD, finding a very vulnerable weakness
to use against him. And it would give Skinner's character
a little more development, which I would LOVE!
Maybe we'll get something along these lines in REDUX 1&2.

GA is 29, although Scully is supposed to be 33.
Someone said Mitch was around 45...I would have guessed older.

actually, this conversation is moot. an age gap alone does not make for a
serious barrier to a relationship: what DOES matter is the roles played by the
people involved.
the inference of an age gap is inequality, ie one partner is 'parenting' the
other (though i've ended up doing that with lads who were my age, so...;).
regardless of the actual or fictional age gap between MP/GA or Skinner &
Scully, the simple fact is that he plays a VERY paternal role to both Mulder
and Scully. following a 'tough love' program, he mets out discipline (calling
them into his office for a dressing down whenever they've been naughty), yells
alot ('what exactly did you think you were doing?'), and puts himself on the
line (in a very subtle and unsentimental way) when they've REALLY screwed up.
conclusion: MP is a very attractive man. but unless Scully isn't as strong as
she appears, and has developed a deep-rooted craving for a father figure to
protect her and simutaneously keep her line, a relationship would be out of
the question.
few things wreck a good mentorship than sex!
julianna
Scully already has a deep-rooted craving for a father figure. The
conversation in the bar in Never Again, for instance. Her relationship
with Jack Willis in Lazarus for another. In Blessing Way, when she
blames herself for Mulder's 'death', she tells her mother "Dad would be
so ashamed of me." I don't think it's weak for her to have this
craving, but it would be for her to give in to it.
We saw Skinner's attraction to Scully most clearly in Tunguska, I
think. I loved his reactions when her resigning from the FBI came up
under questioning from the committee. Which led nicely into the deal
with the devil in MM and Zero Sum, and even Gethsemane for all we know.
Skinner, though, is prevented from doing anything about it by his
position as her superior. He's clearly living alone in that apartment,
but is he divorced or not?
I am sooo looking forward to a Skinner and Scully scene in Redux.

And 15 years is a problem why? Women are more mature so that would put
them at about the same age mentally, right (awaiting flaming men, wait, not

We're talking about Scully here. Don't get them confused. Scully is 33
and Skinner is 45. Are you saying Skinner could have been Scully's a
father at 11? Well we all know the man is rich in testesterone.
Let's clarify something here. This is YOUR conclusion.
Did you ever think that Scully is looking for someone with intregrity
and honor. This is something that Skinner possesses. And these aren't
trait that only a father could have.
As far as the title of the thread goes... the pending question.
Skinner repects Scully but he has done something to harm her . His
part in it was unintentional and he is trying to make up it. He
has hurt and he wants to do right by it.
Could Skinner and Scully ever fall in love? Yes. It would make a
helluva a more interesting storyline the Mulder and Scully romance.
damn right it was...that's why i posted it! :)
>Did you ever think that Scully is looking for someone with
>intregrity
> and honor. This is something that Skinner possesses. And these
>aren't
> trait that only a father could have.
i didn't say that they were inherently paternal traits. however, there are
OTHER factors that led to the conclusion i made, which i've touched on below.
yes, i do realise that skinner has *good* qualities. i have no protests about
seeing more of skinner in the show, or of seeing some serious romantic
entanglements for him.
>As far as the title of the thread goes... the pending question.
> Skinner repects Scully but he has done something to harm her . His
> part in it was unintentional and he is trying to make up it. He
> has hurt and he wants to do right by it.
i think that your points about skinner having wronged scully and trying to make
it up to her are valid. however, that explains affection, but does not provide
the basis for a relationship.
the power relationship between scully and skinner is fundamentally unequal. he
is her boss, and until that situation changes, she has to answer to him...not
a great start to a relationship, IMHO. besides, i can't see scully letting
herself get involved in that situation: even if she *was* attracted to
skinner, she would most likely feel that her professionalism would be
compromised by getting involved with him. (and just imagine the gossip in the
staff canteen)
now, if skinner quit the bureau so that he had to start relating to both M&S as
equals rather than errant children, there could be a start to something. but
otherwise (to quote from the standard noromo argument): 'it would just turn
the show into a soap opera'.
Welcome back Mon!!!I love the idea of Skinner and Scully. To me he is so much
more interesting than Mulder
ECPROR8
I think they should reveal that they already did take a walk on the wild side -
in the past. It would explain some of the "tension".
I agree. I get tired of the shipper stuff sometimes. They are the main
characters, but they aren't the ONLY characters.
>The only character that caught *my* eye was that hunky Assistant
>Director,
>Walter Skinner. >
>
Me, too!! ;)
Tell me, Monica, which episode tells us when Skinner was born? I missed that
one.
It is clear that we cannot peg the character to their RealLife age (See:
GA/Scully).
Therefore, Skinner might be 52, 19 years older than Dana. I know that Mitch
has enough range to play a character 7 years older than himself.
Joe
(taking his last flog at the dead horse)
Gee - she's the only one, too!
Well I happen to share that opinion. I think the sexual tension between the
two of them is quite palpable. Scully is a very strong person, very
principled, very tied to her duty. That image is mirrored in Skinner. I have
never believed in the "opposites attract" philosophy in relationships. There
are two many obstacles to overcome if you have nothing in common.
And since I am personally a hard core Skinner fan, finding Mulder only
marginally attractive at best, I can think of no better match for Scully than
the divinely beautiful Skinner. And Gillian Anderson herself has been quoted
as saying she wishes there could be a relationship between Skinner and Scully.
The woman knows!!!!!!!
red
It's the same here m.p. When I mention that some people want Scully and Mulder
to get together they are incredulous. They are more interested in the mytharc
and conspiracy content of the show. Of course they ask me alot of questions
about Skinner (knowing my preference of course) and I have won new converts to
the Skinner faith.
red
(who now has only about 4500 ng posts to wade thru, sadly a very large majority
of the things posted have nothing whatsoever to do with the X-files)
Truthfully I don't either. But if indeed there is a romantic laison on the
show I think that these two are the best matchup. The thought of Skinner with
"Little Miss Beeeeeee Huuzzzbaandryyyyyy" makes me nauseous, and Mulder with
anyone makes me nauseous.
Skinner deserves something good for a change.

I made some studies, and
reality is the leading cause of stress amongst those in
touch with it...
Now, since I put reality in the back burner, my days are
jam-packed and fun-filled.

Because she *knows* things. She just *does*.

We knew that already. She's on my list! ;-)

She slept with that guy after she got the tatoo. Sorry can't remember
name of the episode.

I am slightly shocked about the bren thing,(actually i'm shocked as
hell). Am i allowed to ask Matt who he likes. God it sounds like i'm in
primary bugging you about a guy. So how long have you liked him for?
Have you told anyone yet? Let me guess, you haven't told the twosome
(and probably never will). I might be coming down to goulburn on the
long weekend in June, it's Elise's 16th. Han, Kate and Nat might come
down as well so if you want you could meet them. Anyway, good luck in
your exams, you'll kick arse
