Three proposals for a Harsh Realm newsgroup have met with opposition
from alt.config because the show hasn't aired yet. They expect us to
post here and in the Millennium newsgroup when the show airs. I think,
given that this is The X-Files last season, that this newsgroup
shouldn't be inundated with show discussion posts on Harsh Realm. It
might be okay for the first 3 or 4 eps because The X-Files will not have
premiered yet, but after that, it is unconscionable to think those of us
that need a home for Harsh Realm discussion would do it here. Also,
Millennium may have been canceled but they still get more traffic than
ATXFA so I see them in a similar situation, although it wouldn't be as
egregious.

On the other hand, that last thing most of us need is to belong to
another high traffic mailing list or have us scattered amoung several
mailing lists. So, I e-mailed FOX, explained our dilemma, and asked if
they will set up an Official message board for us in one spot so we can
discuss Harsh Realm until we can get our own unmoderated newsgroup.

Would those of you who plan to watch and discuss Harsh Realm, be willing
to post to Official message boards until we can be granted a Harsh Realm
unmoderated newsgroup, if FOX goes along with it? I think if we all
post in ONE place, we'll have numbers to take to alt.config to show a
newsgroup is warranted.

So, where do we write to? The Official XF site who seems to care less about
updating ?

Sounds like a good idea. Hopefully the show will be picked up for a full
season quickly. That should help a newsgroup get started as well.

p.s.

I just wish that HR was premeiring next week instead of the first Friday
in October.

No. This would be a message board where Harsh Realm fans could post. It
has nothing to do with The X-Files website. You may be interested to
know the Official Millennium website is up-to-date. Let's give FOX a
chance to respond to the e-mail I sent and not inindate them with
demands/requests. My thing is, we've been used to "NO" rules. If we
post to the FOX message boards there will be rules. That's going to
take some getting used to. But, I only see it as temporary quarters
until we can show alt.config the numbers to justify an unmoderated Harsh
Realm newsgroup. If we e-mail to pockets of Harsh Realm mailing lists
we'll never know how many of us are truly out there to show alt.config
some numbers for justification. That's why I'm requesting the message
board as a central discussion location. But, if everyone says, "Eww,
Official message boards..." I just want to reiterate that I see it as a
temporary home if Fox goes along with it.

Well the answer to two requests was - Post to Chris Carter's other
newsgroups until after the show airs and you can justify the need for
one (different words). You know that would be suicide. I still have
scars from X-Ville. ;-D

I'm going to try again. I see the other requests were made in June and
August but in the meantime we'll have the FOX boards to fall back on if
they do it for us...and if people are willing to post to them. Rules?
UGH.

Maybe we should give them "the big screw you" and just make
alt.tv.harsh-realm anyways...

Yeah--this would be fine, especially at the very beginning.

To be honest, I really have no desire to be on another high volume mailing
list.

Isn't that the foreign kid on That 70's Show? No, wait, his name is Fez. Named

Actually, his name isn't Fez. I saw the cast interviewed on one of
those talk shows; They call him "FES" for "foreign exchange student".
His actual name has never been revealed.

Sort of like we used to call the ensigns stashed in our office waiting
for their next assignments rent-an-ensigns, Rae for short. Except I
never knew this. I just thought that their first name was Ray. So one
day, I answer the call for Joe Schmucatelli, and I say, nope no one here
by that name, but we have a Ray Schmuckatelli. The rest of the office
found this highly amusing.
