HI,

CC has lost it. I am so glad that he's going to be changing the 'files come
February. It was a waste of an hour.

Well, it was better than the rest of this misbegotten season (except for
Dreamland which was okay but essentially silly), which is in real danger
of challenging Season Four as a 90% horrific mistake. I just wish they
didn't dip into rock-video style with the stupid song at the end. It
destroyed the atmosphere (much like the move to LA has). Thank God for
FX and videotapes.

I just stumbled here so I apologize for my ignorance in advance but what is
being changed in February? I hope it's DRASTIC because other than the 1st 2
episodes this season has been pretty disappointing...

I'm sorry ... I really hope you are not writing this to stir up anger and
arguement ... tonights episode was classic Carter ... interesting story
with the demons. It kind of reminds me of that "Charmed" WB show (Btw: I
love supernatural religious stuff) ... again, something different from the
usual "serial killer" generic episodes ... and of course the great ironic
ending! This season started off slow but, the last several episodes have
really made up for the sorry start. Maybe you could EXPLAIN why you didnt

I'm with you, Blue. I like X-Files dark more than X-Files lite (What can I
say, I'm only happy when it rains ;). I thought the dialog could use some
help, but overall I liked the feel of it. Mulder with the shredded papers was

That was my favorite moment too, I think. Although it did make me
wonder...what exactly is Spender investigating if he's shredding
the demon baby kidnapping cases? If it's not an x-file, what is?

I like that song and that's my favorite band singing it. Not to mention the
lyrics are perfectly fitting to the X-Files.

I only smile in the dark (love the X-Files dark)
I'm only happy when it rains (miss those umbrellas)
I'm only happy when it's complicated (love the mytharc)
And though I know you can't appreciate it
I'm only happy when it rains.

He probably thought it was a simple case of a woman (possibly with the help of
her husband) self-inducing a third-trimester abortion to avoid giving birth to
a slightly deformed child. A crime, but not a case for the FBI, let alone an X

This episode was a very well written and thought provoking hour.It kind
of reminded me of the 2nd season episode DIE HAND DIE VERLETZT.It was
actually about something, and people can relate to and it was very
scary.
The age old battle between good and evil in a way.I'm not sure why a lot
of people didn't like it because the show is partly about scary demonic
happenings and it 2night a least did exactly that.

I do like scary well written demon/good/evil stuff. I just didn't think
this was scary - nor did it paint the demon as evil, nor were Mulder's

sheesh ... WHAT ABOUT the story? was it Bruce Cambells char.? was it
too unrealistic? was the whole demon concept foreign to you? do think
demons conceiving children is totally wacko and shouldn't be part of the
X-Files? ... WHAT WHAT WHAT? look ... when a movie reviewer writes an
article about a movie he doesnt like he lists reasons of why he thinks its
stupid. He could wrte about the shoddy directing or dizzy camera angles
... OR he could write WHAT ABOUT the stroy he didnt like ... and he/she
will list DETAILS
when you just say "the story SUCKED" and I hated everything you really
are not putting any thought into your words ... please if you want to rip
an X-File episode back it up okey? rather than a simple "ughhhh" . it
makes you sound like an idiot and makes your arguement sound stupid.
(hence people will disregard it or get mad at you :P heh)

I think it's more a case of Spender being a total and complete smeg-headed
asshole who only took over the X-Files because Daddy let him have the
project. Let's face it, Ferret Face is there only to keep Mulder out.
Mulder is the agent best qualified to handle the X-Files, along with
Scully, and since they didn't want either one of them on the job, they
gave it to Spender as a filler. He's probably got instructions *not to
investigate anything X-File-related. If he wasn't Smokey's son, they'd
have probably moth-balled him somewhere useless where he couldn't do any
damag, like transcibing wire-tap tapes or something...

I don't know how to react. I actually liked the show, but it did not
seem to be an XFile. Mulder telling the demon "I know who you are" was
very similar to Millenium's attempt to be funny where the hero was able
to spot a few demons in human form. By the way, the taping of a
shredded letter was historically correct. It was done by the Iranians in
the US Embassy after they took our people hostage.

The actor in the latest episode is a great character who did all the
"Evil Dead" movies. As soon as you saw him you knew he was the villain.

So what have we got? Four episodes so far, all what we might call
"funny." A nice show with a few twists, but not exactly what we expect.
I wonder if this is just Carter preparing to exit? And, like a previous
poster, I hate this stupid concept about the XFiles without Mulder and
Scully. They have Frazier out of work on NBC and the ratings have
dropped drastically.

We all know that the second time the pair took off on their own and
disobeyed orders they would be fired. Hell, they fire them in Burger
King for less. It is a stupid plot line and Carter should get off it. I
sometimes think he has actually set out to piss everyone off. If he was
looking for a way to chase away fans, he could not have done it any
better.

I wouldn't call it a waste of an hour as I still enjoy trying to
puzzle everything out ahead of time (I avoid spoilers.) I'm still in
the process of reading the posts for TOE but I must say I was very
disappointed. This was not a well written ep.

Let's start with Bruce Campbell's character... *why does he want to
have a "normal" child? He's a demon, right? Why would a demon want to
have a non-demon child? Why would a demon do the nine-to-five grind
for two families in the hopes of getting a normal child? If we'd been
given even half a reason, I wouldn't belabor this point.

Next, what's with the sets of twos? Two wives, two babies, two past
aquitals of murder charges. I don't understand the significance of two
here.

Next, how does wife #1 know that the baby in the fireplace was wrapped
in her nightgown? The investigators would have or could have found
scraps of material but how identifiable would if be as a nightgown?
Did they *show it to wife #1 for her to identify?

Next, how did Wayne end up with the "Indigo Montoya" slashes on his
cheeks? It's a small thing but it's bugging me.

Finally, *what's with the backyard full of normal baby skeletons? How
many were there? How long had they been there? Gestation takes the
better part of a year and women have just so many child-bearing years.
The one skeleton that we were shown looked pretty clean. How long does
it take for the flesh to rot completely from the bone in an
unprotected grave like that?

The only thing I found redeeming in this ep was, sadly, at the
begining, Mulder holding the taped together shreads from Spender's
circular file.

Now for my complaints... would someone just please kill Spender? I'll
leave this one at that.
Next, let's can the Scully constantly covering up for Mulder bit,
'kay? How many more times must we listen to her saying "You're in big
trouble, Mulder."
Next, Mulder not a psychologist... yeah, right. CC? Go rewatch the
pilot, 'kay?
And finally, I think Mulder should drive the car from Night Rider...

I am a die-hard X-File fan, but very disappointed last night...
Seemed to me to be a displaced Millennium episode..Frank Black as
Mulder, and Scully, she didn't have too instrumental a part anyhow.
Also, which bothered me to no end!!! When Mulder responds
sarcastically to Scully's questioning of motivation on husband/demon's
part.."How would I know...I'm not a psychologist!." Well, yes you are
darling Fox! With a Ph.D from Oxford, no less! Please, major
inconsistency run amok! But sigh...things will get better soon,
right? RIGHT?

Sean? What's this "ass" thing you've got going on? Is there something we
should know about? First Krycek, now Skinner... Hmmmm?

~~Annette~~
Who's really not sure if she wants an answer to that!

did you consider that the "I'm not a psychologist" remark was a "Mulder
Wise Crack" (trademark pending) ?

No, I meant Skinner. Krycek is meant for Mulder, but Skinner has always
wanted his ass.

Hey, it's not me who has the ass obsession, it's Skinner. And I just
mentioned Krycek in that other thread because he's the only person
"shagging" Mulder's anything. :Ş

Hey! :Ş I told ya, I'm just talking about how *they* feel about Mulder's
ass, not me. <snirph>

I've been watching for about four years now. Thank you for asking this
question. I thought I was going nuts when Mulder said that. I looked at my
wife and said, "since when". Did he get stripped of his degree in psych
when he go booted from the x-files?

I kind of enjoyed last night in a sort of TZ/Night Stalker vein (sp?), but
there were just ENTIRELY too many faux pas to truly enjoy it (unless you
took the Baywatch tack and LOOKED fot things to nit...)

Sigh... Alas, you are correct, sir. But I think we could find some
selfless volunteers to remedy that situation. Hmmm? (She said, ducking
quickly out of the way of the charging hordes!!) Even if he is looking
like Special Agent Hedghog these days. (She said, donning her flame
retardant suit!)

Sorry to disappoint you here. Mulder may have a degree from Oxford in
psychology, but: 1) it's only a BA. 2) he's not a licenced psychologist,
and therefore that does not make him a psychologist. Just because he's
got a degree, doesn't make him one. He is, however, a criminal profiler,
and he should have been able to use that training.

So yeah, while I kinda agree that that line shouldn't have been used, it's
not because Mulder is not a psychologist. It's because he's got
sufficient other knowledge to use to answer Scully's question.

I've seen stranger things since I've been in this ng! ~;-) Maybe I
wouldn't be so apprehensive if I knew more about this salmon/trout
thing. It seems to comfort many of the others.
