Thanks, Autumn. Oh yes, one more question....is Darin Morgan *for sure*
gone...I heard he may be back in afew months.

Any news if the hair stylists onstaff are also being..umm...let go?
Scully's big texas bubble in the back has just got to go. Let alone
Mulder's 'burns. I so want them to have nice hair. Just for one season,
really nice hair.

Kadia...who has been lurking here since '94....

Dammit, Spotnitz, if you don't stop leaking this kind of stuff to atx-f,
I'm going to take away the five extra chase-scenes-with-many-explosions
I gave you for Christmas.

practice your next crying scene? One more scrunchy-face and I swear

Darin's been "for sure" gone from X-Files since the end of season 3. He left on
his own accord and they tried and tried to get him to come back. He was slated
to write/direct a show last season but backed out. He is now employed on
"Millennium" working with his brother. I have heard nothing about him writing
for X-Files again. Though it would certainly be my fond wish that it would
happen.

As for the hair, no such luck. I will admit to liking Scully's hair though...

I like both hair styles this season. I even like the 'burns. I must be
strange. Wait, I know I'm strange ;-)

?!?!?!? Jeez, that's probably the scariest, most amazing thing that's
gone down on XF this whole season--:). Um. . .is there a good (or at
least plausible-sounding)
reason for this mass bloodletting, like major budget cuts or something?
And does this explain why all of a sudden the long-on-the-shelf King and
Gibson scripts are slated to (hopefully) get aired?

: So, looks like a lot of scripts by good

: old John Gillnitz in our future ...

Hopefully with more Gill than John and Nitz in the mix...g!

I'll just say it was not budget cuts.

O.k., maybe I was abit too harsh with Mulder. His 'burns were actually
good in "Emily", but I worry. In Reduex I they were abit long; caution
is called for with DD's... eh... Mulder's hair. On his own Our Hero
could venture into mid '70's porkchop 'burns just to show us how
*style'in* he can be. I say this with love and concern, mind you.

However, I must stick by my assessment of the new
Bouffant!Bighair!Scully. But, I know I am in a complete minority on
this. I actually liked her hair best in the pilot...in that scene
towards the end of the ep when she is leaving the interrogation room
with CSM & Blevins and turns around and looks at Mulder...her haired
looks so beautiful. But I suppose the Powers That Be thought it to be
toooo Med-school Dana.

O.k. ....I shall now return to my lurking....

So what might these writers have done to elicit such a swift boot?
Did they offend John by refusing to learn Spanish?
Vince, by having M and/or S date other people?
Frank, by expressing the opinion that explosions are boring?
Chris, by recyling his old surfing magazines?

Or all of the above, by committing the sin of continuity?

Hmmm. Well, once one takes a look at said ex-new-writers' previous
employment venues (all of which can currently be seen
over on the Fox site--but for how much longer, who can say? :)), one
can certainly work up a decent guess. My guess is that Fox is desperate
that XF continue be its network dramatic gold standard--its HOMICIDE,
its LAW AND ORDER, its ER--in addition to remaining its cash cow. The
execs. took one look at
CC's choice of staffers and this season's lack 'o quality; realized that
except for one or two writers his slate was one
weak-mug, underexperienced, mostly-genre-ignorant lot to be pinning many
hopes of future Emmys on, and told CC to start wielding that holiday
axe--:). That also would explain why the King and Gibson scripts are
looking like they will finally see the light of day. Gee--hiring writers
who might have talent, genre-knowledge, and knowledge as what to do--a
most radical concept...g!

Autumn, I can appreciate the need to protect your source in this, but this
borders on cruel and unusual punishment for those of us who have been wondering
when we would finally see eps from the newbies. Can you tell us ANYTHING more
about this? I'll beg, would that help? PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEZZZZZZE?

Whoa, *this* season? Season 5? I suppose that would explain the late
start date for the new eps. But a St. Valentine's Day style layoff seems
somewhat pre-emptive, doesn't it? I mean, firing them all *before* their
eps air? Bloodthirsty, and at Christmas too. Cold, way cold.

So was it a) quality or b) dollars?

I would agree - as a matter of fact I think its the best its looked out of
all of the seasons (and certainly a million times better then the
Quantico!Scully wig in Xmas Carol - Die! wig Die!)
