So, does anyone have any idea of the kind of car Mulder and Scully drive
on the show (the car issued them by the FBI, I mean)?

And how convenient for CC&Co ... they could slip this into an episode.

SCENE: M&S are sitting in the car, discussing the case, when the car
"mysteriously" catches fire, the dynamic duo run from the burning car
and just when they get a safe distance away, it blows up and M&S both
fall to the ground. A few seconds later ...

Mulder: "You all right, Scully?"

Scully: "I think so ... how about you?"

Mulder: "I'm OK ... Now that's something new, Spontaneous Automobile
Combustion ..."

Scully: <sigh> "No, Mulder, it's just a Ford."

...and then CC&Co will have to look to GM or Chrysler for complimentary
free car use.

I would guess Taurus.
But, don't they drive different makes?

Don't Scully & Mulder always drive rental cars? Well, most of the time.
They're always travelling & whenever you see them they're in a different
vehicle. Plus, wouldn't the FBI just give them any car that was
available, not always a specific one?

That's right -- I can't remember a time when Mulder and Scully were
not driving an early 90's Ford Taurus. The color changes a lot,
though.

Actually, if you look closely...they've recently been driving Ford Crown
Victorias...(a workhorse for most law enforcement agencies)

God help me for knowing this, but I believe M&S usually get a Ford Taurus
from the depot. At least, that's what it looks like. Taurus is the #1
choice of gov't fleets everywhere, so this is pretty accurate, if, in
fact, I'm correctly identifying the car.

Yeah right. Like you need to have a keen eye to identify the Taurus. :)
Yup. Taurus it is...if they did not sneak in a Mercury Sabre once in a while.
Big difference. :) ...and Crown Victoria. All Ford. All boring as hell.
at least Magnum PI had a 348 (Ferrari 348 that is)

another curious things is that all the cars DD drives are so...new! Hmm.

generally its either a tarus, or a crown vic. the taruses are most
likely rentals, or supposed to be. you fly across country, and get a
rental. the fbi motor pool is large, but i seriously doubt there are
extra pool sedans just waiting for visiting agents. :>

Probably, on a side note...
Dispite the fact they are Fedral agents, arn't the firearms
they carry non standard? I saw M with a Glock 17L and a Walther
PPK (I think). He loves his guns! :) - although I can only
remember S carrying a S+W.

Well, at home in her own personal car, Scully has a Chevy Cavalier. Its blue
and we see it in Paper Clip. Don't know what Fox drives, though. Maybe
a VW Fox? In war of the coprophages he was in a Crown Vic in Mass during'his
time off.... d'ya think that was his car or a fleet car?

Their rentals haven't ben all Fords, though. In the first season we can see
them
running around in GM products like a Buick Century or an Olds(Deep Throat).

Good one. Fox...Hehehe....

See, that is the thing. Mulder is not driving as cool a car that goes with his
obviously GQ-level clothing....BMW is more like it...a nice M5 for some chase scenes...
<drool>

You can do the miami vice thing as to HOW a special agent can affort a $60.000 car. :)

Hmm, this is the first time a person called a Ferrari "little". :)
Yup, It is teeny. A two seater with no back seats.
but it is also a rocket. Over 350horses sit right behind your ears.
Wrroooooooooooom. Whoosh. Gone. :)

There is a saying: You will never see the FRONT of a Ferrari while it is moving.
Profound, huh?

it seems to me like they are ALWAYS driving rented Fords...it's become a
habit for me to notice the blue ford symbol on the front of every car
they drive!

Sure enough. Here is one way to lose Ford rather quickly as a sponsor:
Let a few bad guys drive around in spanking new Taurus doing some
memorable atrocity. THEN, we can get those fine folks from Zuffenhausen
sign up. :)

I don't know what they're driving now, but if there's any justice in this
world, Mulder would drive a SATURN and Scully would drive a PROBE!
