Who the &%¤# is Mel Cooley?

I'm the norwegian subtitler for our favourite show, and here I just got to
the episode "Pusher". When Skinner comes into the records office, Pusher
tells him: "Take a walk, Mel Cooley!" Could someone please tell me who this
Cooley is, so I can find a proper norwegian metaphor?

Mel Cooley (spelling?) was the immediate spervisor of Rob, Buddy and Sally
on the 1960's "Dick Van Dyke Show". A lot of jokes were made about his
baldness. He was also a bit of a pain.

In the 60's there was a show called "The Dick Van Dyke Show"
wherein Van Dyke played a comedy writer on a fictional comedian's
(Allen Brady)weekly show. In the early years, the comedian was never
seen. His bald, bespeckled, putzy brother-in-law, Mel Cooley, dealt
with the writers. He played a straight man to Van Dyke's wise cracking
writing staff who were forever insulting him in front of and behind his
back.
He was played by Richard Deacon, a seemingly omnipresent second
banana, supporting actor in late 50's and early 60's television.

Mel Cooley was the producer of the tv show that Dick Van Dyke was a writer
for in the sit com called (appropriately) the Dick Van Dyke Show. Mel
Cooley, bald, wore glasses (played by Richard Deaccon) was a
brother-in-law and a "yes" man to Carl Reiner who's character name escapes
me, the star of the fictional show the Alan --something--show. Mel Cooley
was bald and wore glasses
We have an urban folk contemp group in Seattle named the Mel Cooleys. Do
they show old reruns of this show in NOrway? If so, you don't need an
quivalent.

Mel Cooley is a character in an American situation comedy "The Dick Van
Dyke Show" which ran in the 1960's. It concerned the lives of Rob and
Laura Petrie (Rob played by Dick Van Dyke, and Laura by Mary Tyler Moore).
The Mel Cooley character was the producer/supervisor of a TV show for
which Rob was the head comedy writer. Mel is bald, and many jokes were
made from this point. He was also a bit officious and not-quite-with-it.

or how you got around it. Sounds like a very interesting job, providing

This is a reference to a character on the 1960's sitcom "The Dick Van
Dyke Show". He was the balding brother-in-law/producer of one of the
other characters. He was most often refered to as the butt of many
jokes and was thought to be dim-witted and bumbling. If you need
anything else, let me know!
