Deep in the castle.

last encounter with another person had ended as briefly as it had
begun. Lady Sally had just disappeared in front of him.
Now he stayed in the castle and just spent his days wandering the
corridors in silence. The castle mainframe tended to his needs and
alerted him of any anomalies. These days there were fewer and fewer.
The town had grown silent. Even Puffy's was deserted.
Galen walked towards the entrance to the catacombs. He hadn't been
down there in a while. At the door he stopped. "Whats the bother
really" he thought, and turned back towards the garden.
Suddenly, an alert flashed through the castle. "Failure in project
Phoenix capsule 6. Failure in project Phoenix capsule 6. DNA rebuild
99.999% complete. Terminate capsule or open?"
Galen rushed to the catacombs. He had to decide on the fate of
capsule 6.
Upon entering the lab, he checked the status displays. "Mainframe.
What about the other capsules? Are they safe?"
"Affirmative. All other capsules are nominal and project Phoenix is
nearing completion. Capsule 6 is failing due to an electrical fault
in the neurochemical stabilizer. Terminate or open?"
Galen thought for a moment. He could let it sit indefinitely. If
opened, the subject would live a normal, healthy life with some memory
loss and the headaches would be treatable, but the subject would
live.
"Subject" he thought. Interesting that he used that term. He had
scoured the DNA from every source that he could find in X-Ville.
Mostly Puffy's, but there was also the Embassy, the sewers, and a few
other places. The first place had been the 5th Business base. After
straining out any possible contaminates, the samples were placed
randomly into Genesis capsules.
"Mainframe, move capsule 6 into the recovery room and prepare to
open." Galen watched as the mainframe followed his instructions.
He entered the recovery room just as the capsule was being opened.
The body was laid out on a bed, and manipulator arms began to uncover
the dressing over the body's head.
