On tonight's x-files episode, I believe I saw a cockroach crawl from
towards the right side of the screen. It was when Mulder was in
that lab when it happened. Right after the scientist with the
speech problem said 'It's beyond my comprehension" when I noticed it
crawl across the screen. Anybody else noticed it?

I saw a cockroach crawl across the screen, as well. It was to give
you the feeling of being there and it worked.

I hope it was deliberate..... if not, maybe some editors should be looking

I think it was a deliberate reference to a similar scene in the movie "The
Tingler" where the title monster moves across the movie screen and Vincent
Price voice-overs "Scream, Scream for your life!!!" Like most everyone
else, I had a moment where I wondered if the bug had moved across my
screen at home. This was a very, very funny tongue in cheek episode, I
thought.

I should call this a request, rather than a challenge, but here it is:

I've been listening to this Cyndi Lauper song lately called "I Drove All
Night", and I keep thinking it might inspire someone to write an M&S
relationship story, but since I'm not a writer, would any of you out there
like to give it a shot?

The lyrics are below, but I really think you need to hear the song to get
an appreciation of the emotion depicted...

I found the song on Volume 8 (called "Dance Party") of an "80's Greatest
Rock Hits" CD, of all things... (though I wouldn't consider this a dance
song, myself...)

Any takers out there? If so, thanks in advance from a relationship story
addict ;-) !!!

--------------------------------------------------------

"I Drove All Night"
Cyndi Lauper, 1989

I had to escape,
the city was sick and cruel...
Maybe I should have called you first,
but I was dyin' to get to you...

I was dreamin' when I drove
the long straight road ahead...
To taste your sweet kisses,
your arms open wide,
this fever for you
is just burning me up inside

I drove all night
to get to you...
Is that all right?

I drove all night,
crept in your room,
woke you from your sleep
to make love to you...
Is that all right?
I drove all night

What in this world
keeps us from tearing apart?
No matter where I go I hear
the beating of your heart...

I think about you
when the night is cold and dark.
Noone can move me the way that you do.
Nothing erases this feeling between me and you.

I drove all night
to get to you
Is that all right?

I drove all night,
crept in your room,
woke you from your sleep
to make love to you...
Is that all right?
I drove all night...

To taste your sweet kisses,
your arms open wide,
this fever for you
is just burning me up inside

I drove all night
to get to you...
Is that all right?

I drove all night,
crept in your room,
woke you from your sleep
to make love to you...
Is that all right?
I drove all night

To taste your sweet kisses,
your arms open wide,
this fever for you
is just burning me up inside

I drove all night...

More than that, I had a few small crawly apartmentmates last Sept. They've
been gone four quite a few months and seeing the one on the TV screen scared
the bejeezus out of me. I was within 4 nanoseconds of leaping out of my seat,
grabbing a tissue and killing the little bugger.

Yup.. that was a bug.. Seems that this episode was a throw back to the
first season.. Also.. whats with the waxing jealousy over the "Bambi"
chick..

Most definitely a bug thrown in for an extra scream... I was on the phone
with a friend... she was watching as well.. and we both freaked!
IMHO... this episode was a scream! I needed the laughs.

Okay my opinion was that it was an accident that with all those
damn cock roaches that they just couldn't keep the camera lens
clear. Yuck.

For those of you who want a question to ask CC there it is. Was
the roach deliberate or an accident.

BTW did we find out in this ep why the call them "cock" roaches.
Hung like a dragon fly...snicker.

Scully reading Breakfast at Tiffany's snicker I missed that.

Okay now to make it relavant to writing since I couldn't resist
a comment. Are we all going to work roaches into our stories?
The next couple of months should prove interesting. Scully's
dog has fleas-- that should be good fodder for some fun.

Poor Mulder he should have been the Catholic and joined the priesthood
'cause he sure isn't getting any. "Smart is sexy."

Yes, I did. Pretty funny. I gotta tell you, I was laughing all
through this episode, even as I was looking around my room for
cockroaches! Yeechh!

And the ending with Bambi and the wheelchaired scientist was just
priceless. 'Smart is sexy'. Boy, I would love a few more fun episodes

Yeah, and I'm curious as to how they did it. You couldn't put a bug on the
camera lense, it would be too big. But that is the perspective you get
when it happened.

Yes except, mine was real! Here in Hawaii, we have roaches at least
three times as large as those in the episode and they're eveywhere.
When the lab roach crawled across the screen, my roach got very
excited and chased the TV roach to the edge of the TV set.

He then became very frustrated and flew around the room looking for
his romantic TV star. Finally, he landed in the center of the screen
and remained there looking very dejected until I turned the set off.

Was that a scream or what?! I thought Friday's episode was one of the
cleverest things I've seen in a long time. So many classic lines:
Mulder describing the kitchen: ...modern appliances, moving wallpaper..."
And yes, there was a bug on the screen. Wish I'd taped it.

You too, huh? I was looking all around me for insects too.
What was that closing line? So by the next time there's an
invasion of dung-eating robot cockroaches from outer space,
their grandchildren will be ready for them.

Actually, it was probably more like writer Darin Morgan, Paul Rabwin
(head of post-production at the X Files office) and Mat Beck (visual
effects supervisor) and the post-production crew in Los Angeles wondering
if anyone out there would "get it" or would it be another nitpick on the
Internet. Unless it was written in the script, I doubt that Duchovny and
Anderson had any idea it would happen.

For the record: great effect, gang! I had to rewatch the tape twice to
make sure I saw what I saw.

I saw a cockroach crawl across the screen on Undercover Boss tonight. It would of freaked me out except it didn't crawl on the TV frame. Is this some kind of upcoming promo for a pest control company? If so, I'm not buying.

Yes, the show put that in to make it look like you had a cockroach on your tv while you are watching the show. What’s funny is, I live in Louisiana and we actually had a big fat roach on the wall during this episode. Needless to say it was no big deal when the one showed up on screen lol
