I'm Jane come lately to this thread, but I just have to jump
in because well...
If you go back far enough, I'
m responsible for the GATB and the DDEB, and I am just too tickled
that they have been mentioned in print interviews and the like, and
I am very curious when it comes to modern culture...
That, and I'd love to see the story.
LJC, who will tell you the whole, long, bizarre acryonym story if
you ask her to.

Izzat so, LJ? Wanna explain that one to me? Was it you who created the
SEFEB, after which came the PSEB and the DDEB etc? I thought it was
Janis Cortese!

Please do! I want to hear!

Actually what happened was, on Rec.arts.comics.misc there was a thread
about characters who looked like their artists/writers, which then
became How to Hit On Sandman Fans, which ended up with me remarking
that there were enough of us with net.names based on characters from
Books of Magic to make a Net.Trenchcoat.Brigade.
So I added "LJC of the NTB" to my .sig for kicks. I was chatting to
Janis about Sid (we spent about two days drooling :) and she asked
about the NTB, and the next day she had created the SEFEB, of which I
was a founding member, which as you noted spawned the other brigades...
SInce this all started almost two years ago, I am sat back a giggled
at the train of thought that culminated with Gillian mentioning the
GATB in an interview. I just think it's really neat how one .sig can
end up on Usenet creating a whole new animal.
If you don't believe me, ask r.a.c.m about Suicide Squid someday to
see how snowballing really can affect lives for generations to come :)
One of these days I'm gonna write a book that will be the equivalent
of kidnapping the world and making then sit through a slide-show of
my life on Internet to prove that the 'net has more to offer than pedophiles
and software theives, as the news media would like us to believe.
Okay, so I am obsessed with tv, but there are worse things to do with
one's time than reading X-Files fanfic :)
LJC, temporarily .sigless...
Ah, okay! This makes sense! I was wondering, now I know! Thanks!
