Well, not really... but I don't know if I am the only
one to make mention of this, but it is drummed into
my consciousness even more so since seeing "Runaway Bride"
and renting and rewatching "Pretty Woman", BUT, I think
that both actors resemble each other. It's the eyes... the
beautifully, compellingly structured eyes. They are very
nearly the same and whenever I see the other, outside of
TXF, I am struck by the haunting similiarity.

Am I alone in this?

Not at all. I've always felt that Richard Gere was what DD would look
like in ten years - for me, though, it's both the eyes and the nose.
Richie's is pretty substantial, after all...

when I realized she was right.

So, yes, I see the resemblance.

I never really thought about it, but now that you mention it, I guess RG and
DD do have some similarities. I'm going to see Runaway Bride on sunday so
I'll look closer then.

Yes, I would have to agree that it is
more than the hooded eyes. It is the
nose and mouth too. The eyes just
seemed most prominent. I'm glad I am not
alone in this and not just imagining I am
seeing DD in every actor I watch on screen.
heheheheh... Obsession? I think snot!<okay,
maybe.>

I believe that DD did a Richard Gere imitation on one of his SNL
appearances.

DD and RG really do look alike. You know what would be really nice? A
movie with both of them together as brothers...maybe in a romantic comedy
or something? Whatcha all think? Maybe Cate Blanchett could play a love
interest....Hmm...

I remember that one of the early reviews of XF said that "David Duchovny looks
like Richard Gere if he traded a little of his good looks for 40 I.Q. points."
Take that as you will. :)

The deal for me:

Richard Gere ONLY 'works' for me with long hair. ('First Knight')

DD does NOT 'work' for me with long hair. ('The Rapture') There's
something about the man's *hairline* right around the temple that makes
me weak at the knees... <g>

Bottom line - I think RG is somehow more 'ordinary' looking.

My mother works in a video store and after the XF movie came out, some guy
came
in and said, "I didn't know Richard Gere was in the X-Files" and it took a
lot of
convincing to set him straight.

This whole thread made me think....

Richard Gere as Grey Mackenzie

We casted "Seven Brides For Seven Brothers" on ATXF one time, and we
came up with:

Father--Walter Matheau

The Brothers-- Harrison Ford, Richard Gere, David Duchovny,
Rick Moranis, Corey What's'isFace, the Canadian singer, the long-haired guy
from that soap opera, and Jonathan Taylor Thomas.
