....the robot dog from Battlestar Galactica..???? Oh, wait a minute...that
was
dagget, wasn't it? BTW, the chimp that was in the costume, is a better
actor, although they are both about equal, in looks.

Bitter much?

FWIW, the character was apparently named after a sportscaster that CC was fond
of in his youth, named Jerry Doggett. (Note: The character's name is John
Doggett; I don't know why they changed the first name.)

is anyone else out there not impressed by the new xfiles guy?... I thought
for sure CC would cast Hart Bochner in the role... he's a great actor and
the fact that he's gorgeous and somewhat resembles David is a bonus. Im not
impressed with CC's choice at all. I cant see Robert Patrick in this role
at all. :(

I am not sure about this casting either. I for one think Hart Bochner is
gorgeous too, but perhaps too much so. Robert Patrick is just plain scary
looking to me, especially in that pic that ran in the Vancouver Sun. I guess we
won't have to worry about Scully lusting after him. I will however leave my
final opinion open somewhat until I see what CC does with the new role and how
RP does in the first few eps. My fingers continue to be crossed.

What role??

Whatdoya mean, "what role?" ?

I mean, we don't even know what the ROLE is yet, so how can we not like
him in THAT role?

IF they had said "Robert Patrick is going to REPLACE David Duchovny as
Fox Mulder", we would have something to scream about. As is, we know
NOTHING about the character, except his name and status.

And as for the "big ears" cracks ALREADY--many would have been
screaming if thye had casted a mega babe, too. "Trying to upstage DD with a
younger, cuter guy", I can hear it now.

There is no pleasing us. I know, I KNOW, "pleasing us" would be 22
episodes of Mulder, or the end of the series. Well, neither one happened.

I just think we should wait to see what is in the box before we send it
back.

The only way they could have pleased me would have been by casting Edward
Norton or Wolverine.

You haven't seen the role yet. Maybe it might be a good
idea for you and others to wait and form an opinion when
you have something to base it on.

I can't even get his real name right - Jason Patrick? Patrick Henry? Robert
Bruce? What the heck? I really don't care anyway.

I'm impressed. Robert Patrick is the actor I would have chosen out of the four
candidates. I've always thought he was a fine actor, showing a lot of
versatility. He may be slightly unknown, but as someone else pointed out, so
was David when the X-Files started. I'm happy with all of the characters on
the show, and I trust Mr. Carter to know what's best as far as casting. Fire
in the Sky has always been one of my favorite movies, and I can say the same of
Robert's performance in Terminator 2: Judgment Day. I'm confident he'll do a
great job.

I have no problem with mulder being gone.. I actually prefer the Scully
character.. but I just don't see how CC could choose Robert as the actor
playing the xfiles guy..he just doesn't appeal to me...I'm hoping his acting
will be so phenomenal that I will forget what he looks like and sounds like.
I'm disappointed because I really wanted to see a new character ; a new
person that will bring out another aspect of Scully's character, and I don't
see that happening with Robert. Gillian is a brilliant actress and after 7
years with David.. some fresh blood will be somewhat refreshing on screen.:)

Nah, I don't want a gorgeous guy that somewhat resembles David
on the XF. I want David. I don't want some guy that's supposed
to *replace* David.  A totally different guy, a totally different
character might add to the show. He shouldn't be someone
who's taking Mulder's role.

pleasing me wouldnt be 22 eps of DD..it would be 22 eps of Scully with a new
and diverse character..which might might might be RP..but i just cant see
it. I mean face it...DD was cast by CC because he has sex appeal; why would
CC cast someone to act opposite Gillian who had no sex appeal.. fans need
the sexual tension..it makes good ratings...Hart Bochner would have given
the xfiles that.... Believe me ..im hoping it will work out... I cant wait
to see how Scully's character reacts to this change. I know Gillian will be
able to pull it off... but will RP. :)

I don't know. I've heard and scene quite a bit of RP stuff. If anyone has the
voice of everyman's man it is he. He is really good at that sort of thing. For
one where he talks see Dusk Til Dawn 2, or if you are in for a brain teaser and
a fantastic story with a great romance, I reccommend you get The Dig for your
computer. He plays Boston Lowe in that game, and wow, he is good.

Personally from what I hear of his character he does seem good for the part, no
romantic sense of course. I bet he'll be like a little Skinnerbut with more
hair and screen time. I cannot wait.

Well, I'm going to reserve my judgement until I watch. I think forming an
opinion on a performance sight unseen is a bit pointless.

And yeah, I like Hart Bochner too. Ever see "Apartment Zero"? Possibly my
favorite movie ... and he was 'ooooh'

Well... the ROLE is that of a blue-collar, ex-Marine, law enforcement insider
type. I don't buy Hart Bochner in that type of role -- and while Chris Noth
would've been *my* choice, I can't really see him in that type of role either.
(And personally, I wouldn't want to see *anyone* who resembles Duchovny in the
role of Scully's new partner.)

The fact is that none of us were in the auditions and none of us have seen
Patrick's audition tapes. He was apparently quite effective in a recurring
role on "The Sopranos" last season, which gives me hope.

Carter was right when he chose Duchovny and Anderson, wasn't he (especially in
that he fought the network to hire Anderson)? I'm willing to wait until
November 5th and see how Patrick does.

Yeah, since he's more uptight than Scully, not that I'm saying Scully's uptight
(cause she's not), maybe we'll get to see her believing more readily in
theories that Mulder would have otherwise made.

Is there some reason why the new guy -has- to look like Mulder? He isn't
replacing DD as Mulder, but playing another character entirely. If GA decided
to leave the show, I can't imagine another redheaded, blue-eyed actress coming
in as Mulder's new partner.

I know this is just a typo, but I couldn't help thinking that
"a little Skinnerbut" sounded like a good thing when taken
completely out of context.

Ummm, however, while I would like to see a little Skinnerbutt
with more screen time, I wouldn't want to see a little Skinnerbutt
"with more hair." Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwww!
