Right here.
Hi Kyle,
I don't know why my post on May 24th didn't post to the group when I first
responded but it was saved in my sent box, so I pasted it in here. The
strange thing is that when I first logged in on the 24th, I could see 1-2
real TWY posts and a dozen spam posts but as soon as I sent my response it
all disappeared and took my response with it. Guess it's just one of the
quirks of the internet. Then I posted again just to see if it would show up
and if anyone was still around.
Here it is again.... I hope. ; )

Hi Kyle,
I realize you posted this about 6 weeks ago now, it's been at least a year
since I stopped by this group. I have satellite now and was flipping
channels and came across the lake episode a couple of nights ago and that
caused me to wonder what might be going on here. I had never heard of Ion
before, seems my youngest had been watching Sabrina reruns there.
Good to see you're still around. Looks like the newsgroup is all but dead
but hardly surprising with the TWY's off the air for so long. I don't expect
we'll see much activity increase here, with it on such an obscure channel at
present.
Anyway, if Lyle or any of the other old timers are still around out there,
hope you're all doing well.

Here in the San Francisco bay area, it's on channel 65.
For years that channel was some Christian bait-and-switch network.
Typical program had a decent family drama like Seventh Heaven or
Little House on the Prarie, but about halfway through the episode
it'd start preaching about how a supernatural being was responsible
or everything that was happening in the episode, and how people who
obey the church's rules will have good things happen but people who
disobey will suffer the bad consequences. The only other channel at
that end of the "dial" was 66 which is Spanish language, so
generally I avoided flipping channels there at all. But in the TV
log a week and a half ago I happened to notice Wonder Years listed
for channel 65, so I gave it a try, and sure enough, it was the
start of the series where Kevin had a crush on a gorgeous girl in
his class who accepted going to the first-of-year school dance with
him, via notes in class during a slide show, then immediately after
class she accepted an offer from a more popular guy, and Winnie was
going steady with yet another more popular guy, so Kevin was so
upset that he took a dare to go "steady" with Becky Slater, and
actually liked being with her, but went back to Winnie as soon as
she was available, which pissed off Becky, who went into Amy Fisher
mode from then onward. The TV log showed Wonder Years on MTuWThF,
but in fact Friday is a movie instead. But it turns out the movies
they show FriSatSun are top-notch movies, two-part "Lonesome Dove"
last Saturday and this coming Saturday, "Cleopatra" full-length
last Sunday, and "Journey to the Center of the Earth" next Sunday.
I forget what they showed on Friday. Also, the hour before Wonder
years is a police/hospital drama starring (and produced by) Dick Van
Dyke, don't know the name, but it's not bad!
My guess is that ion (pronounced "eye on") television is a
brand-new network, so anyone in other areas might do well to check
their local TV log, or just scan all the channels around 10 PM
weekdays, to see if any TV channels have recently switched to ion.
By the way, of the 7 episodes I've seen so-far (MTWH last week, MTW
this week), only two were episodes I've seen before, and neither
one I remember seeing all the way through.
By the way, when Wonder Years used to be on PBS many years ago, I
got a crush on the "bad girl" who kept sneaking a cigarette while
waiting for the bus for the field trip to Griffith Park observatory
to observe the total solar eclipse (where the boys put explosives
down the toilets, you remember that episode perhaps?). I didn't
approve of her cigarette smoking, but I like her cynical attitude
about authority and life. Does anybody know which actress played
that role? Many years later, in 2003, I met a gal (Julie Gardner)
who reminded me of that single-episode character.
