The actual name of the airfield at Nantucket Airport. Is this a trick
question? :)

I may be mistaken (it's been 2 years), but when I was in Nantucket, I
could swear the airport was not called Tom Nevers Field, and that's
actually another area not far from the airport.
And speaking of which, anyone still organizing that proposed Wings' fans
trip to Nantucket this spring?

Not anymore. When I was up there last summer and wanted to go to the airport
to get my pic taken by the sign, my cousin who lives there informed me they
scrapped that name several years ago. It's just the Nantucket Airport or
something generic now.

It's the Nantucket Memorial Airport. Although I could be mistaken,
it's my understanding that there is a southeast part of the island
called Tom Nevers Head named after a whale watcher who lived in the
1700s. The name was used because NBC supposedly wasn't allowed to use
the real name of the airport.

There's a website if you care to check it out:

Nothing spectacular, just some info on the airport and a few pics.

This is not a trick question. By the way thanks.

You may be right. I know you have to go down Tom Nevers Road to get to the
airport, but I was also under the impression that the airport was called Tom
Nevers Field until the island started to get too big and they wanted to scrap
the "podunk" name in favor of Nantucket Memorial or whatever.
