I've never found out who Katie, the aeromass employee is. I always
assumed she was related to someone or a crew member herself. But I don't
know for sure. If any of you guys know, i'd be much obliged.

Is Katie that red-haired woman that isn't behind the desk anymore, or
someone else? That one red-haired woman is in like every episode
before this or last season, I'm not sure which. I always thought that
she needed to say something because all she ever did was stand behind the
desk and grimace at everything Roy said.

Katie was played by Kathryn Wilde, someone who was still on the show when
I went out in 93 for my first visit (which included being in the last
scene!! <G>) I noticed her missing for awhile, then she was back, then
she was gone. I hope it wasn't health related, I always liked seeing her
there (but then I have a special eye out for redheads!!)

P.S. Will be nice to see the LAST episode again, this time with the
post-production stuff put in!!

thanks for the info., but that still doesn't explain her situation to me.
She's obviously not an actress because she never had any lines, and I
doubt she's just an extra who lives in a little room under the studio and
gets paid in Wings merchandise, so is she a crew member who just did it
for fun or what?

I think Unsolved Mysteries is doing a piece on her next week.

There is a job called "stand in" people get paid for. They attend
rehearsals and make note of exactly where the character they are covering
moves during the show. Then on camera blocking day (boring yet difficult
IMHO) they take the place of the stars to set the camera shots and sizes
and lighting. If there is a change in blocking to accomodate cameras,
they tell the star they are covering to save the director time.
Its actually a demanding job. These folks then become atmosphere (extras)
during the filming so they are around for any last minute lighting or
camera changes. Katie was a stand in, I believe for Rebecca, for several
years. Her on screen persona was of one of Roy's long suffering
employees. She left for personal reasons for a while, but now turns up
ocassionally at Cafe Nervosa on FRASIER.
