THE OLD UNIVERSITY ENTRANCE

[ A VR-5 FAN FICTION STORY ]

[ Wisconsin Present Day ]
Sydney and Duncan have receive a letter from a friend. It is not an email or a sms. In fact, it is a hand-written letter. A letter from Dani, she and her friend Randi are asking if Sydney and Duncan can come and visit her in Wisconsin and help her go into Sydney’s VR.
For Duncan, he is wondering how Sydney would able to transport her VR from Cali and whether the modified equipment would be able to work in the environment of Wisconsin where Dani lives. Duncan knows from Sydney that Dani lives in a country suburb between Milwaukee and north of the Wisconsin side of Chicago, Kenosha county. Also, they both know how Dani being originally from Kenosha is concerned that the country suburb is being made into a cookie cutter, materialistic, Chicago suburb of which many of the transplants fled from 25 miles south of Kenosha; which is why she is in a country suburb that is part of Milwaukee and still Wisconsin, where people say their state capital is Madison not Springfield.
[ Country Suburb of Wisconsin ]
Dani has moved into this suburb recently and likes the Danish character of the suburb. There are Chicago transplants here, except, they really don’t want to bring what caused them to leave Chicago here as compared to developers trying to make Kenosha into a cookie cutter, throwaway suburb and bedroom community.
Dani does a radio show and is starting again to work in VR after a long recuperation period. A period brought on by hidden conversion therapy, hidden religious conversion, and even the friends game of having someone get close to her when she was in shelter to manipulate her. It is like going through a POW experience; although, Dani knows that those who went through a POW experience went through worse than she did; yet, like those who went through that experience, she did the same things to recover as she remember one vet returning from Vietnam, who her father had rented an apartment to did. In essence, playing her music, watching her TV programs, watching her movies, and setting her own sleep schedule and wake-up routine. No more, someone yelling at her at 6 am to wake-up and quickly do duties and beg the staff to give her, her tablet back before leaving a Stallag / Gulag like shelter she had to go through before finally finding a new place to live that is better and helping her health.
“I hope Sydney understand the urgency of my letter,” she is thinking. The letter is hand-written with the hope the Sydney will see from her handwriting that she is still needs her help now; it is important Sydney brings her VR to Wisconsin and Dani does not feel enough to travel to Cali; although, she would like to if she do it like in the 90’s when in Tahoe and Reno.
[ Sydney’s Apartment ]
Sydney has developed a new way to minituarize her VR and to do a CX like link; similar to what radio stations do when they do remote broadcast. It is an idea she had from Dani as Dani does a radio show and is learning about the computers and computer links used in radio.
Duncan is a bit concerned that Sydney did not tell him of this until now; he is wondering if the committee will discover it if Sydney is not at the telephone company for a week; also, how will they travel to keep the device secret and to make look like they went to Tahoe for a romantic interlude? A bit to consider as Duncan is thinking as Sydney is packing her portable VR with CX.
Sydney packing her portable VR with CX, Duncan looks. It is in a Boho pursue that is a crossbody purse and does not look like Sydney is carrying the normal VR equipment she is using; from a distance it looks like a purse a woman would carry with cosmetics for a trip and some essentials to use as a carry-on to the plane.
“Syd, did you pack everything to help Dani?”
“Yes, it is her.”
“It looks like the same type of purse you usually use; except, you don’t use a purse everyday.” Duncan sees the purse and to those who know Sydney and especially others who do, she seems like a woman carrying a purse for a weekend with her boyfriend.
Both Sydney and Duncan get into the car. The car is gassed up and they are riding on I-10. It is the same I-10 to get to Phoenix or to Vegas. As they ride, they start to head to Vegas; it is about 90 miles away after awhile of driving. Sydney is wondering is Duncan really going to drive all the way to Wisconsin to buy time from the committee.

[ Wisconsin ]
Dani has a premonition that Sydney and Duncan are coming; she can sense it along with the migraine headache. She does what she does to use biofeedback to control the migraine headache. She is assured Sydney and Duncan are due very soon.

[ On the Way to Vegas ]
Sydney does her best to help with the trip; it is a long ride through the desert; Duncan is looking at the mileage counter for some reason. He eyes perk suddenly…
“Syd, we are here, just a few minutes more.”
Sydney is wondering what Duncan means; there is no air strip and no plan or helicopter in sight. It is a few minutes and a haze forms; Sydney wonders if it is the desert effects; the haze comes closer and a friend of Duncan walks out of the Haze.
Sydney is about to ask and Duncan’s friends explains that he found a way to use a theory of Tesla to develop a controlled string portal; so, no more planes or helicopters. They will be in Wisconsin in about 30 seconds once they walk through.
Walking through, they are in Wisconsin near the country suburb where Dani lives. Duncan’s friend is allowing Sydney and Duncan to use his car for travel to Dani’s. The car looks like a basic car and blends in with other cars; except that it never needs gas or electric charging, it gets energy from the constant rain of energy and stores some for future use. The engine is self-lubricating and cooling, no coolant use as it is a different process.
Arriving at Dani’s place, Dani is there waiting at the door; another premonition. She had a feeling they would be there shortly; Dani is a bit tired as she was up late and didn’t get to sleep until 3 am that morning.
“Hi, Sydney; Hi, Duncan, glad you can make it; thanks for coming quickly, lets’ go inside,” said Dani.
Sydney and Duncan hug Dani, realizing she has something she wishes to tell. It is something that she is putting on in public and will tell when inside.
Inside Dani’s place, she begins to tell Sydney and Duncan about a theory she has. The theory involves something her parents told her of before they died. It was if you have a special item or walk in a special path that existed in the past, it is a portal.
Dani had contacted Duncan’s friend about the idea; that is why Duncan’s friend was able to meet Sydney and Duncan in a vacant place in the desert. It is also, why she asked Sydney to help her VR with her VR and to bring Syd’s VR from Cali.
“It is this. At one university I studied they changed the entrance to a road about instead of the old entrance formed a connected to the physical plant in the outer parking lot. However, those working at the physical plant, still use the old entrance as it is mini-cart trail of two tracks. What I wish to explore is that I feel that is something special about entering the university through old entrance via VR that will yield something in regard to now. I can understand if this is too much, don’t feel bad if you don’t want to try it.”
Sydney beaming couldn’t wait to say yes. Duncan knowing Sydney would say yes and wanted to let Sydney say it.

[ The Country Suburb University – Old Entrance ]
Sydney is dressed in the jeans, the outfit she normally wears when she works for the telephone company; to others, it seems like Sydney is one of the students, not in her 20’s, but, still looks like she in her 20’s. Dani and Sydney are dressed similar like to two good friends, Duncan is at the car, waiting for Sydney to give word to the do the CX link.
Before arriving at the University, Duncan didn’t realize that the Sydney’s new VR is all concealed in the cross-body purse along with a point energy module to provide CX link and power to her main system in Cali. Duncan is glad Sydney has kept this secret from the committee.
Sydney and Dani are on the old entrance way; Sydney hands Dani sunglasses to look through as she has on as they walk through the old university entrance to parking lot. Before walking, Sydney sends the signal to Duncan to start the CX link before they start their walk and back. It is about 5 minutes.
Both return to the car and head back to Dani’s place. Some think, the two of them may taken a short nature walk…

[ Dani’s Place ]
Sydney has the information from CX to begin the full VR exploration. Duncan is present to help as a fail-safe if they both need to be pulled out. Sydney and Dani enter the VR.
For Dani, it is not the university of 2018, instead it is the university of 1978; a time when she first took her first summer class; Sydney and Dani are in 1972 Colony Park Station Wagon that her parent’s owned and drove at that time. It has the click on plastic parking permit in the mirror for the summer session; something is different.
Sydney looks at herself and notices that part of the 21st century outfit she is wearing is changed; it is jeans, a fabric top, fabric purse; no lycra or spandex capri’s as at the house. For Dani, it is pastel color pants with 70’s solid colors, a soft pink and button top; both are wearing slings.
Coming to the parking lot; Dani is experiencing the aspects that she feels missing from entering the university the other way in 2018. It is a spirit of the people there, a spirit of the sense of goals then and encouragement. It is something that is not felt at the other entrance; for Sydney, she is seeing why Dani did study there in 1978, it was like Cali with many professors there who used to teach at Cali; a shared space.
Getting out of the car and entering the student union through the old entrance which led to the cafeteria on the second floor, again, Dani experiences a connection and feeling; it is like there is a certain knowledge that can only be exchanged via psyche at the proper quantum and point energy coordinates and conditions.
Sydney is sensing something as well; it is of her father and of Dani’s father in being able to guide them to certain parts of the building to experience a knowledge that cannot be kept in books or electronically online; one reason is that the knowledge is quantum and digital storage, even in 2018, cannot store the full essence. For Dani, it is nice to feel her father’s sharing again and to know he been able to see what she continued since 2000, year of his death; for Dani’s mother, Dani can feel her mother’s happiness that Dani is able by 2018 to enjoy part of the college experience she lost and now to experience the college experience she missed in 1978 through her undergraduate years.

[ Sydney’s House ]
The committee sends someone to check on Sydney and Duncan; entering the house, they see a reservation email printed for a stay in Lake Tahoe this weekend. The person calls the committee and heads out. He does not notice that Sydney’s VR is not running; Sydney rewired so that looking at through the improper perspective, the VR will seem off --- no lights, no sound.

[ Wisconsin ]
Sydney and Dani are motioned by Dani’s parents to begin to head back to the parking lot and exit the same way they came with the Colony Park; her father asks Dani to drive to the McD they went to north of the University and leave the keys in the car.
Driving from the University, Dani tells Sydney as Sydney sees what Kenosha county around the university used to look like; the cabbage farm at one side of the university, no packed in cookie – cutter houses, the easy ride up, no one in a hurry, no road rage, even coming to taking Taylor to Racine, seeing the old Goldblatt’s mall again with Goldblatt’s, Big Boy, and their stop McD. People happier than today, even being paid less, able to have fun, no hectic hurry up weekend here.
Dani leaves the key in the car; they head inside to order two strawberry cones, cheeseburger, and a soda. Dani pays the $3.05 for their whole order. As they begin to sit, the restaurant they are in is still there, except it is the environment of 2018; the strawberry cones they must has eaten as well as they meal; it is just the packaging present.
Duncan calls Sydney and ask Sydney and Dani to wait in the back of the parking lot. They go, the 72 colony park is not there, and the area is empty. A haze appears, Duncan motions them to walk-in. A few moments later they are back at Dani’s place.

[ Sydney’s Apartment ]
“Sir, I checked the hotel in Lake Tahoe and they said they checked in and put up a do not disturb sign in their room; the clerk thinks they may be newly married.” The watchman is instructed to go to Lake Tahoe himself and verify.

[ Dani’s Place ]
“Thanks for helping; Sydney, we both gained special knowledge; don’t tell the committee about this, you know they will pry.”
“No, I won’t; it is ours; your Mom and Dad are cool, I’m glad you are able to keep a certain innocence of that time and in yourself; any way you can share some of that with me?”
“Actually, just mediate and have fun when you and Duncan get to Tahoe.”

Duncan friend knocks, it is time to go.

[ Tahoe ]
Sydney and Duncan are in their special room at Lake Tahoe, snuggling, having fun; the watchmen is trying to look through the door by infrared; he sees Sydney and Duncan there; have they been in their room the last two days like on a honeymoon.

[ Sydney’s Apartment ]
A professor from the committee comes to talk to Sydney; Sydney is not as uptight as she is in the past when she sees him; she still remembers her past, and is able to become strong; like Dani, a recuperation as well.
