How exactly did Laura die?

I can't remember from the first few episodes, and I missed a couple, and so
I can't remember.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Regards,

Andy

To paraphrase the show, Laura died of blood loss from numerous shallow
wounds, none deep enough by itself to kill her.

Yesss, but for everyone who got it wrong, this speech from episode
one bears repeating. What marvelous attention to detail, and on tv ?!

DR. HAYWARD

Harry, as you know, I delivered Laura. I've known her all her life, she
was my daughter's best friend. I couldn't bring myself to do the
postmortem, so I called Joe Fielding in from Fairvale. He did the work,
I assisted. Well, this is what he found. (puts on glasses, consults
sheet) Time of death estimated to be between midnight and four AM. What
killed her was loss of blood. Numerous shallow wounds, no single one
serious enough to have caused death. Bite marks on her shoulders also
on her tongue, probably self-inflicted. Lesions on wrists, ankles, and
upper arms, where she was bound. We're waiting on the toxological tests
for drug use. (he takes off his glasses) Within the last ... twelve
hours, she had sexual relations with at least three men.

Well no...he didn't. but if you read the script for Fire Walk With Me you
will realize that Leland rapes Ronette and Laura at the cabin...thus the
time lapse as portrayed by the juxtaposition to the trees blowing in the
wind after Leland first comes in the cabin and then when we see him pushing
the two girls he has raped and beaten (thus the bruises and blood) outside
to go to the train car. I think there must have been something in Lynch
that finally realized that the scene in the cabin could not be included. It
would be just too much, too much for anyone to watch.

Isn't that part in TP? I saw some comment on the web about someone who was
lucky enought to be around the set while filming for a day, and on the day
they were there when they were filming the rape scene, and the actress
playing laura (ok, no, I don't know which cast member it is) basically had
to scream her lungs out.

Unless its part of Ronette Pulaski's dream. That dream is soooo creepy, and
I hope there are many more moments like that in the series (pleeease say
there is!)

Regards,

Andy

Dear Andy! I`d just like to add what Trechom sent to answer your question.
To be more exact as to Laura`s death, we must listen to FBI-guys, too, not
only Doc`s autopsy results. Let`s go to Ep.8 where Cooper and Albert tell
their theory of what happened on the famous night:
C: The night Laura Palmer was killed, it appears she made 2
appointments. In her diary, she had written, "Nervous about
meeting J. tonight." I now believe this was a reference to
James Hurley. She was nervous because she planned to tell
him she didn't want to see him anymore. Before she snuck
out of the house, she received a phone call.
A: We believe it was Leo Johnson making a second appointment
for some time later that night.
C: Laura met James, was with him until 12:30 when, at the
intersection of 21 and Sparkwood, she jumped from the bike
and ran into the woods. We believe that it was there that
she met up with Jacques Renault, Leo Johnson and Ronette
Pulaski. Together they drove to the foot of the trail
leading to Jacques' cabin.
They climbed the trail, they were heard passing the cabin of
the Log Lady. They reached Jacques Renault's cabin at approx
1 am. Drugs and alcohol were consumed. Laura was tied up
and had sexual relations with both Leo and Jacques. Waldo the
bird was let out of his cage and attacked Laura. Leo and
Jacques fought. Jacques went outside and passed out. When he
came to, Leo and the girls were gone. We believe Leo hiked
back down to his Corvette alone, leaving the girls behind.
A: The reason being, there was a third man.
C: Deputy Hawk found evidence of a third man outside the window
of Jacques' cabin.
A: The third man took Laura and Ronette to the train car, where
they were tied up. Laura for the 2nd time, Ronette for the
1st.
C: Using a blunt object, the killer hit Ronette and knocked her
unconscious. He must've been so intent on killing Laura, he
didn't realize Ronette regained consciousness and escaped.
A: He either didn't know or he didn't care. He made a small
mound of dirt and put the half heart necklace of Laura's on
top. He then placed a small cut out letter R under the nail
of her left ring finger. You'll recall he placed the letter
T under the fingernail of Teresa Banks.
He, uh, left a note written in blood, "Fire, walk with me."
We all, Andy, is seeking easy answers to difficult questions. Or vice
versa? From Russia with hint!

I guess Lynch must have learnt something after having to entirely (AND
voluntarily!) cut Harry Dean Stanton's torture sequence from his
previous film Wild at Heart, since two thirds of the audience on sneak
previews got out of the cinema because they couldn't take any more...
