American Idol star David Cook was rushed to a local hospital following
last night's show.
American Idol medics said that Cook's blood pressure was high and
urged the Idol contestant to seek immediate treatment, but he did not
want to leave until the show concluded. He was then rushed to the

pressure and released him soon after.

American Idol contestant David Cook is "doing fine" after feeling
heart palpitations after the show. He was rushed to a nearby hospital
and was treated for high blood pressure.

"After the show, he was in the elevator and said he was going to go to
the hospital. He said he had high blood pressure and wasn't feeling
well. Now he's back at the hotel," a spokesperson said.

David Cook, 25, was released and taken back to the American Idol
apartments. No other details are available.

Medics said that Cook's blood pressure was high and urged the Idol
contestant to seek immediate treatment, but he did not want to leave
until the show concluded. He was then rushed to the hospital, where
doctors gave Cook medicine to bring down his blood pressure and
released him soon after.

Cook, a top contender on the singing competition, has been under a lot
of pressure over his brother's battle with cancer; in an earlier show,
he collapsed before performing and said he could not continue, but
wound up being able to go through with the program.

During last night's show, Cook managed to please the judges with his
rendition of Dolly Parton's "Little Sparrow," though Simon said it
wasn't his best performance.
