HOLLYWOOD (Variety) - Warner Bros.' WB Network has signed WCIU Chicago
to carry its children's programming service, Kids' WB.
WB, which is launching its Saturday- and weekday-morning lineup this
fall, also confirmed that its sixth series for Saturday will be
``Adventure Man.'' WB has ordered 13 episodes of the show for the 10:30
a.m. slot.
The series was created by Indigo Productions and will be produced by
Warner Bros. TV and Warner Bros. Animation.
WCIU, which signed on the air Jan. 1, may ultimately become WB's
primary affiliate. Superstation WGN, which carries WB's primetime
programming both locally and nationally on cable systems, will not carry
the kids' shows in Chicago, and WB has said it does not plan on using WGN
for national or local coverage beyond year two of the network because the
station's heavy sports load will conflict too much with its primetime
schedule.
The three-hour Saturday Kids' WB lineup is set with ``Sylvester &
Tweety Mysteries'' at 8 a.m., followed by ``Earthworm Jim,'' the ``Steven
Spielberg Presents'' trio of ``Animaniacs,'' ``Pinky & the Brain'' and
``Freakazoid!,'' and ``Adventure Man.'' All programs other than
``Earthworm Jim,'' which comes from Universal, are produced through Warner
Bros.
On weekdays, Kids' WB is offering two half-hour animated strips
beginning at 8 a.m. under the banner ``The Warner Bros. Present Toon
Time.''
