FYI: My inner geek LOVES this type of thing. I like to see the
similarities (sp?) and the differences. I used to play this with Law
and Order (they "recycled" actors ALL the time). I think you can see a
lot of Aaron in the words they use but you can see into the actor's
true self when you see the same traits in different characters
portrayed.
Any way, that will be my contribution for the day. Thanks for the
read.
It's a common discussion; someone ought to (*) create a FAQ.
(*) That's my way of not volunteering.

David M. Nieporent niep...@alumni.princeton.edu
Nina Siemazsko Charlie's nanny/Ellie Bartlett
John de Lancie that network stooge/that nasty pollster
Clark Gregg the owner of Quo Vadimus/Agent Casper
Ted McGinley Dana's boyfriend Gordon/the host of Capitol Beat
Lisa Edelstein Bobbie Bernstein/Sam's call-girl friend Laurie
There may be others but along with the three you mention I think this
covers the most prominent.
And one of my favorites that I spotted last year:
"SportsNight" actress Kayla Blake's real name is Elsie Sniffen. Sorkin used a
close variation, Elsie Snuffin, for the character of Will's step-sister, played
by Danica McKellar
It's too early in the AM for me to go look them up, but the two
bickering control room techs from SN (I think one was animation and
graphics and the other sound maybe) have been in the press gaggle on
AF1 a couple of times.

Actually they are both regulars. (I have the two seasons on DVD but I
haven't time to look it up right now either)
I think Kim (the delicious Asian associate producer) has been on once.
Her rotund foil, the other associate, led the AOL chat with the
Surgeon General in the episode where there was an AOL chat with the
Surgeon General.
For those of you who recently stated that you like Josh Charles... I
wasn't aware of who Aaron Sorkin was when I saw the promos for Sports
Night and decided to tune in for the first episode. I tuned in because
I remembered Josh Charles from a little indy film he starred in when
he was a teenager, called Crossing The Bridge. It isn't too hard to
find for rent on VHS and may be on DVD, though not likely in too many
rental catalogs, but it's worth a look. Not a timeless classic, but a
very solid independent film with a strong script and good
performances.

There is also the head tech (Dave? the guy who played God in Jeremy's
rewrite of the Haggadah) also appeared in the press pool.

>So I know that Aaron Sorkin was the creator of both shows. It seems he

Most, if not all, of them are listed on this page:
http://westwing.bewarne.com/overlaps/sports_actors.html
There's also a link there to another page with some other SN/WW
similarities.
Now, the question is, since Sorkin will presumably create and write
another TV show in the near future, which of the "Aaron Sorkin
Players" do you think should be cast in it? I can see a show with
Clark Gregg (Calvin Trager / Mike Casper) and Lisa Edelstein (Bobbi
Bernstein / Laurie) in lead roles, and you can assume the regular
control room / press room guys Will, Chris and Dave are likely to show
up sometime.
And will the first season finale be titled "What Kind of Day Has It
Been"? How long before there's a latin episode title?
This is the coolest thing my inner geek has ever seen. Talk about
sensory overload. Thanks!
