Others have commented that the attacker was short, around Lindsay's height,
and some think the attacker wore glasses, though that has been debated.
(The part that doesn't fit is that Lindsay thinks it was a strong man.)
Motive: remember after Judge Hiller delivered her decision in the Anderson
Pearson appeal, reducing his sentence to time served, on the way out of the
courtroom, she stopped, turned, and looked back at Lindsay and company with
a very angry look on her face. She made the decision she felt was right,
but at the same time she was angry that in so doing she came down on the
side of Lindsay, who had thrown a brief at her among other things.
Move on to the nun-killer case. As punishment (possibly), she saddles
Lindsay with defending the accused nun-killer. But that backfires when
Lindsay and Ellenor discover the search was warrantless, forcing Judge
Hiller to suppress all the evidence in the closet and set the defendant
free. Another decision that she knew was legally correct, but was angry at
having had to make.
So could it be that her non-violent attempt at punishing Lindsay having
failed, she snapped and turned to violent punishment? Of course this would
mean having to totally throw out everything we are SUPPOSED to know about
Judge Hiller and her respect for the law.

I think Hiller is at least 8 inches shorter than Lindsay; Linda Hunt is really
small!

True, but the judge is perpetually cranky.
Of course I don't believe the writing would ever go in that direction but if
we're going fan fic, it's just as plausible.

I think that this is as likely as Bobby being the stabber. After all,
I'm sure if you searched, you could come up with similar reasons why Bobby
would want to stab her. This is too far fetched to be plausible.
Don't go here.
