Well, I caught Dylan on Howie's show today, and I thought I'd relate in
detail all that happened for those that are interested and didn't get to
catch it. I would have given you guys heads up so you could see him,
but I only caught him on because my boyfriend yelled from the other room
that Dylan was going to be on "Howie" next. So, I changed the channel
and took some notes so I could report back here. If anyone saw it and
has any corrections, additions, or thoughts, feel free to correct me.
I'm wrong .. sometimes (Right, Mike? <G>)

They began the interview laughing about a woman, Nina, who they'd gotten
from the audience, I believe, to go outside the studio and put on a
yellow, in the style of ABC ads, advertising board -- you know, the kind
that goes over the front and the back of the person, can't think of the
name -- that said, "The Practice is moving to Sundays at 10 pm." She
also had a bullhorn and was just out there repeating it to all the
passing cars. (Of course, we all know that already <g>)

After they stopped chuckling, Howie congratulated Dylan on "The
Practice" winning the Emmy for Best Dramatic Series (YAY!). His
reaction was, "No one was more surprised than me." Howie asked him,
"Didn't you know you had a great show?" "Well, I knew, but I thought
nobody else knew." (We do, Dylan! <g>) "I had no idea we'd win."

Then, Howie asked if the show would be changing. Dylan explained that
Charles Durning would be playing his dad, and that'd he be in three or
four episodes this next season. Then, Dylan was doing the typical
guest/host schmoozing by telling Howie he'd have to be on the show
sometime, and Howie said he'd do it.

Howie then asked about how Dylan's home life was going. Dylan talked
about his wife and how things are great with her. As they put up a
picture of Dylan and his wife in the background, he talked about his
wife being an actress. When Howie asked him about those two working
together, Dylan explained that he tried not to work with her. Actually,
though, he said she's going to be on the show this season in an episode
airing October 25th. He didn't mention what kind of role she'd have.

Then Dylan talked about how he had a 2 year old baby girl. He said he
had a sad story to tell, and Howie kind of questioned what kind of sad
story. Dylan proceeded to tell the story of how the family had gone to
this bathroom store, a really high end type, the kind where you
purchased $1500 toilets. He was walking around looking at tiles when he
heard a scream. About his daughter, "She had taken a dump in one of the
display toilets." They laughed about that, and he talked about how
embarrassed he was, but he said his wife was less embarrassed than he.
This had actually happened to Howie, when his daughter was the same age,
and both men had ended up buying the used toilet. They spoke more
about potty training and Dylan joked about how he takes a newspaper into
the bathroom with him, and now that he's training his daughter, he just
sends her into the bathroom with a newspaper, too.

Howie segues into bringing up the fact that Dylan was People Magazine's
50 Most Beautiful People, but not only that, he was also on the
magazine's cover for being one of TV's 40 Most Fascinating People. He
joked about how Dylan was not only beautiful, but apparently fascinating
as well. That leads him into telling Dylan, who apparently hadn't heard
of this or didn't know much about this, that this author, Cheryl
Kuschner (sp? I couldn't see the last name on the cover) had written a
book called "Meant for Each Other," and the inspiration for the main
character was Dylan. Apparently the whole time she'd written the book,
she had a picture of Dylan hanging in front of her. When the publisher
asked her who she thought the man on the cover should look like, of
course, she picked Dylan. (I didn't think it looked much like him, but
I only saw it for a second, and it was side profile. Now *that's* some
fan fiction <g>)

After that, they cut to commercial showing Nina out there bellowing
through her bullhorn about the show moving to Sunday nights.

When they came back, Howie put up some pictures of Dylan, looked like
senior year photo or around that time, but Dylan didn't say when it
was. He was in suit and tie, and the tie had a big knot, which made
Howie joke, "You know, your tie knot shouldn't be bigger than your
head." They laughed about that and about how bad his hair had looked
back then. I forget what kind of cut he called it, but it was to his
shoulders, very funny, but those old pictures are always embarrassing.
He said he'd been a geek in high school, "as you can tell from the
pictures." Then they showed another picture when he was about 9 or 10,
I think, though they didn't say, and he looked like a cute kid (course
we all know he's *gorgeous* now <G>).

He brought up the fact that he loves to do accents, that he can do about
12 accents, but no one ever wants him to do them in his roles because
they all want him to do his own voice. He listed a couple he could do:
English, Yiddish, Spanish, Japanese. So, Howie wanted him to do a
couple, and he gave him the article from People, the Beautiful People
one, I think. So, he picked his Castillion (sp?) accent and started
reading, but he quickly embarrassed himself when he had to read things
about himself like a quote pertaining to him and "liquid sex" (I wish I
remembered the context of the magazine saying this in reference to
him.) He was laughing having to read about his sex appeal. He switched
to his Yiddish accent, but he kept messing up and would switch back and
forth. (He's cute when he's flustered <g>)

They ended his interview with him and Howie running out to be with
Nina. So, we got to see Dylan running, and then, the camera got behind
him as he headed out to the street. Well, he was wearing jeans, and
yeah, if go for that sort of thing, you could've gotten a look at his
butt in jeans. <BG>

Carolyn <---- knows that everyone just enjoys Dylan for his acting <G>

Most excellent report, my friend! Thanks -- wish I'd seen it, but I'm hampered
by one little thing -- work :(

Hello .. thank you for the wonderful memories! I am Nina (yes the Nina from the show :) Dylan was very nice and super skinny. That was a fun day! I was talking about this day to a friend of mine who asked if I've watched a show live and boy did I have a story for her. Now to find the VCR tape and get a real chuckle.

It's good to see some activity on this newsgroup. But I'm curious. I
don't recall seeing the message you're replying to. What was the date
on that message? Thanks.
