It's annoying as hell isn't it... I don't know why they do it.

Young children typically love repetition. Think of the typical child who
listens to the same kiddy record/CD over and over again, or wants to
hear the same story over again. You lose interest because you are a 23
year old man. :)

The theory is that very young children need repetition to help them process
all the info. They may pick up something in the second showing of the video
that they weren't aware of the first time around. You know how little kids
will do the same thing over and over and over and over a billion times?
Well, they learn from all that repetition. It reinforces new skills and
sharpens their perceptions. That second showing of the human kid video may
be boring for you and me, but your son is mesmerized, right? Round 2 is
just for him.

Well I was going to give the reason that Ragdoll (the program makers) do it,
but our kOkOBeeN has covered it superbly! That's how the producers see it
too!

My little niece walks right up close to the TV as soon as she hears the
tubby theme start to play and stands there immobile until the babysun sinks
down behind the hills and the Rice Krispies promo comes on. She loves her
tubbies!

Hi !

Repetitio est mater studiorum = repetiton is the mother of studies. I also can
see the effect with a new song. You keep playing it time and again. I found
many times things that I hadn't recognized the first time. Such sentences not
heard or things not seen.

Yes I used to despise this, I'd have to watch the show with younger family members. It was already bad enough without the video being repeatered.
