Sigh. I was hoping to avoid this.

Funny Lady's identity must not be revealed, but let's just say she
is on the chubby side and recently quit a certain herb-seasoned pop
quintet.

There, you made me say it.

OK, you're close, but that's not the answer. In fact, children have an
aversion to him because of the color of his fur... Here's a hint: he's
green.
Why is green the problem, you ask? It's because kids are enduring
something else that is that color...
Did you guess?? That's right, "their vegetables". While Po reminds them
of strawberries and watermelon and cinnamon; while Laa-Laa is the color of
lemonade and pies; while Tinky-Winky is grape-colored -- Dipsy has a green
bean growing from his head. Food, and treats in particular, are a main
focus of a young child's life, as you well know.
Some electrical connection in a child's brain is connecting a disgust
with "green things", with THAT green thing. "Now, Jimmy, you'd better LIKE
Dipsy, or you won't get the others!"
I'm not saying that hatred of veggies is good. Nor would I suggest that
the Teletubbies are "food". Kids have a perspective that's a little less
structured than they do when they grow up. The adults could probably help
them, but I think they're too busy.

Yes she is. However chubby isn't an insult (at least to me).

Dipsy is my absolute favorite Teletubby. I love his hat, and the way he always
looks just a little confused by whatever the others are freaking out about on
any given day....but I especially love the way he goes "eeeeeuuuwwwwwww!" I
think Dipsy is like the Ringo of the Teletubbies; he's usually fourth in the
popularity polls, but those of us who like him *really* like him (and we're
usually a little quirky ourselves, I'd gather).

On the Dipsy side,

I found that most people's favorite Teletubby is Po, followed by Laa Laa. My
favorite is Tinky Winky, and I have spoken to a few others who agree. But why
does no one like Dipsy the best? Is it because of his darker skin? I would

I LOVE DIPSY!!! He is so cool. I love him for many reasons but one of them
in because of his darker skin. Dipsy is our tubby-of-color & I think it's
just great that he is so definately brown. Maybe that's because I am so
definately brown too.

I've said before in this NG that Laa Laa is my fave (& she is) but that
doesn't mean that I don't love Dipsy (& Po--so sweet; & Tinky--so silly).

Well Laa-Laa and Po are my definite faves, but I love Dipsy also. I love the way he moves and
says 'again, again' when he rarely get's the go of screening the film. The one that leaves a lot
to be disired for me is Tinky Winky.

On the subject of songs, have you lot seen the tubby (ok Laa Laa) version
of Pulp's Common People

I read it on on of the UK Tubby sites back in december, so I can't remember
which one it was, but I thought it was quite good!

As an insider in the prodoction of Teletubbies, I'm privy to the privy-secrets
(no, not *that* privy).

Tinky Winky = MacDonald's founder Ray Crock
Dipsy = Adolf Hitler (yes, *the* Adolf Hitler)
Laa Laa = Margaret Thatcher
Po = My second grade teacher Mrs. Azfazador
SunBaby = The SunBaby (who else?)
Narrator = Generalissimo PanPan of the Mantua militia

Yeah I have seen that many many times. If you liked that, why not check
out my band, the Even Shyer Horses, who have made four songs about the
Tubbies? Read all about them on my site, URL below.

I really have to stop this incessant plugging of the crap I peddle on my
website. Sorry.
