I'm totally confused about these boxes. My cable co "Cablevision" just
changed a bunch of my favorite channels and now show a screen saying I
need and IO digital converter box to view these stations.Does that mean
I need to buy the converter boxes everyone is talking about with $40
coupons? I don't want to RENT them from the cable co at $6 a month for 5
more boxes my bill is already $80 a month. How about my VCR's I run 6
straight off cable with no box. Will I need to be there to change the
channels on the converter boxes to tape shows with my VCR's? THe gov
sucks big time on this decision

Yes they do! I have 2 vcrs and my webtv hooked straight from my cable!
All you have to do is put a converter between the wall and your vcrs
that should work! At least that is what I'm told...Beckie

Why are you criticizing the government? The February 2009 Over The Air
analog cutoff doesn't prevent cable companies from providing service
compatible with analog cable ready tuners. As far as the current US
regulations are concerned the cable companies can continue to provide
analog service until the sun burns out. Any shift of cable channels from
analog to digital is purely a business decision by your cable provider,
probably motivated by a desire to clear bandwidth on their equipment for
the high data rates necessary for high definition channels.
