I own a Sony Bravia KDL-32S2530 LCD television which I recently bought from
a local Sony dealer here in Greece where I live. The reason for my writing
is to request your precious help with a problem that is related to teletext
signal reception.
When the device was powered on for the first time, it asked me about the
country in which it will be used. I chose ‘Greece’ and almost all analog and
digital channels were properly detected.
The problem is that I can not receive teletext services from digital
television channels. This has happened ever since I bought the device,
although I have confirmed beyond doubt that all Greek digital channels
provide teletext services.
A local authorized service provider advised me to reset the device and to
choose some other country than ‘Greece’ when I am asked to. I was told that
this would help because different countries use different settings profiles.
I followed their advice and as a result, now I can receive teletext signal
from digital television stations.
However the problem still remains because now when I attempt to view
teletext pages, Greek characters do not appear properly. I can only see a
random series of Latin characters instead. I assume that this happens
because the television set does not use the proper character code page.
I would be very grateful to you if you could tell me how to change the
character code page used when viewing teletext pages. If this change is not
possible, please let me know if you are aware of any (official or not)
firmware or software updates for the Bravia KDL-32S2530 that can solve this
problem. I would also appreciate any advice on how to apply these updates by
myself, if this operation is not extremely difficult.
(Please note that I have already written to Sony customer support but there
is no answer yet. That is why I am writing to news groups.)
Earnest request : Please send a copy of possible answers to
tsio...@gmail.com because I do not have regular Usenet access. I can only
get E-mails through my mobile phone.
Thank you very much,
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Best regards to everyone,

P .S I am not very familiar with Usenet, so please be a bit patient in case
I make mistakes. I promise to get better soon.
