Anyone have a 5 digit code to try to get it to work?
BTW there are a few phones you can use as a remote and some Telnet
options. I don't think any of these have been perfected, but it is
promising technology for couch potatoes.
Not sure what you mean. I have a directv hd recorder, and a WDTV Live
Plus box, and use both every day. Exactly what do you want to do?
I wanted to set the DirecTV remote to control the WDTV Live. DirecTV's
web site has a long list of device codes, but Western Digital is not
on the list.

It can be done but it will involve a fair bit of effort and a big
learning curve if you're starting from scratch. First you'll have to
install a recent version of WDLXTV, unofficial alternative firmware
that adds many useful features to the WDTV including direct access via
telnet and a web interface (the WDTV is really just a Linux computer).
Then program the WDTV to respond to codes for a device the DirecTV
remote does support and finally code the DirecTV remote for that
device. The links below will point you in the right direction.
Last things first: the end result. The example is for a Live Plus but
should work equally well for a Live.

The WDLXTV Wiki, which has all the answers you need, if you can find
them.

The WDLXTV G2/Live/Live Plus download page. Select your WDTV model.

There are several versions based on each of several different official
firmwares and they have different capabilities. For the Live, select
either 1.02.21-WDLXTV-Live-0.4.7.3 [flash] or
1.03.49_V-WDLXTV-Live-0.4.7.3 [flash]. This chart may help:

That should do for your summer reading assignment. Good luck.

Yeah. Lot of work.
Thanks for the info
