I've had my new Panasonic projection TV about a week now and really
notice a vast difference in the quality of the picture when I'm
getting a HDTV signal from my satellite. The convergence looks fine
in standard tv mode but when it goes into HDTV mode the convergence
seems to be way off. Is this something I should just expect? The
picture from a DVD is perfect.

BTW: I've got it unplugged at the moment. We were watching the set
which had been on for most of the day when we heard a 'pop' and the
screen suddenly had a horrible yellow tint. My dealer said unplug it
for a few minutes to see if the picture came back. I'm thinking that
the set should go back...

I know my Mits RPTV has convergence memory for the different modes. I.E. the
convergence can be great on the S-Video input, but off on the HD input. Once I
adjusted the convergence on all the different modes it's been pretty stable
since. I only touch up the convergence every few months now.

Perhaps your Panny is the same way...

I set the convergence while it was displaying an HDTV signal. It
looks much better now and didn't seem to impact the display in SD.
Thanks.
